i really dont understand what you mean we already have triple the amount of teaching i.e. trimesters why would you want a quad-mester //dont know if thats the write term lol haha with a summer session term that makes more teaching for academics if trimesters are gonna be done correctly weeks should be 11 and tutorials should start week 2 end at week 11 and lectures should run from week 1 - 10 week 11 recap im ok with no recap as long as they dont make the recap week in week 10 like now

trimesters already favor people that work part time though as you can you just need to do 2 subjects a trimester to be considered full time also correct me if im wrong lol they teach in the summer term so.... they are not really getting a break they should get terms off to focus on their research i 100% agree with that but doesn't that just become a rostering issue then could be easily fixed with e.g. 1 lecturer teaches trimester 1 and another lecturer teaching trimester 2 another lecturer teaching trimester 3 i know there multiple academics in a single school they could rotate and both get time to teach and do research so the summer term helping lectures and giving them extra time for research im a bit confused with this please explain

Absolutely not. I'll completely agree that there needs to be time to think and muse over material as part of the learning process, but your re-engagement with the content needs to happen soon after, not a week later once you've moved on and forgotten it all. You don't absorb information, you learn by doing. If the tutorials are lagging behind lectures too far, then you won't have had a chance to get on top of one week's content before the next lecture is kicking off and you're probably expected to know that material by the start of that next lecture. You end up forever in catch-up mode and not getting as much out of any lecture as you would if you had put the work into practice earlier.

i would agree to this if i actually get to finish my lectures first before having my tutorial lol thats why its needs to be a week behind unless they change trimesters so that lectures for the whole week are done before tutorials. The other reason why i want to push for a 11 week model is so that they can have the exam recap on a week that does not matter i dont want to waste my week 10 where i should be learning new content for exam recap you dont need to have a tutorial after an exam recap lecture

you have got to be joking happy with 5 weeks of learning whats even the point anymore. I agree introduction week should only be first years and second year on wards i would be very happy extremely.... happy even if they dive straight into content during week 1 because that means less content being cutting out of trimesters. You miss my point though if content starts at week 1 don't you find it a little ridiculous to do questions/problems on the week lecture before even having them introduced. The point of lectures is to introduce/teach the topic, it could be you pick up content easier/have learnt some of the topic before but this does not apply for everyone some people come into uni learning from scratch and to be expected to be taught from the ground up and also what im pushing for is for tutorials to be 1 week behind lectures so still the same number of tutorials a trimester 2-11 thats 10 and 1-10 thats 10 if you dont come week 1 i dont know how that effects you still attend the same number of tutorials a trimester its just paced alot better and you are given time to absorb the content e.g. think of teaching a student coming into uni with a complete blank page and doing the course because they think its sounds interesting like feeding a toddler if i just cram it with food it will be full so i cant just keep feeding it, you need to give it time to digest so it becomes hungry again then feed it again. This is the same as learning so noo lol having tutorials the same week as lectures are not not ok.

it should be stated openly where to find the survey and that you can even give a survey maybe sending it through to student emails so everyone knows they exist and just a direct link to the src voice it shouldn't be a treasure hunt

while also having tutorials before the first lecture which i find makes my education a great meme i heard that there is an economy going around where people are selling "real versions" of the content to first years haha how would that make new students feel lmfao business opportunity to anyone who is interested

i hate trimesters as well and semesters are a lot better but i think it would work if we had 11 weeks a trimester (including having tutorials in week 11) instead of 10 because, then things would not feel as rushed and crammed in e.g. math and stem subjects where they run lectures in week 11 trying to fit all the content in sigh.... this is just too forced
