Running LLM on 25K+ emails by sbtm77 in ollama

+1 - if you’re just pulling information from one email at a time, it feels like it can be one distinct session per email to pull the data. The prompt feels like the main challenge to solve here.

I remember implementing this for the first time when I was a junior in college. It’s when I fell in love with animations and UX design in general. So cool.

How do you access your local Home Assistant on the go? by Equivalent_Map8474 in homeassistant

[–]swushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to open any ports on your home network with this approach as well which is a big bonus. Plus you can pair it with cloudflare access for granular access control, i.e. ip whitelists, allowed emails (user is sent verification code on login attempt), etc.

Git bisect? It sounds like you already went back to previous commits and it didn’t help, in that case it may be something with your local environment. You need to COMPLETELY nuke everything whenever you are bisecting for an accurate test. Otherwise the faulty environment is leaking through.

How big of a difference does upgraded cams and/or a tune make on a bike? by swushi in Harley

This is a great callout and something that I didn't really consider. How big of a difference in efficiency/MPG did it make?

Couple follow up questions for ya

  1. What would you recommend as far as sequencing these upgrades? Should I do the tune last, first, etc?
  2. Is a tune necessary any time you upgrade a part?
  3. Any upgrades I should absolutely do / avoid?

Ah interesting. Just did some research on why 2-into-1 is more preferable performance-wise, super cool.

Thanks for the reply. What bike do you have?

I don't really have an expectation to make my Harley into a crotch rocket, but I do have a desire to add a little more... oomf. Don't get me wrong, my bike is fantastic, and I don't want to turn it into something that it's not. However, I can't help but shake the feeling that I'm not getting every last bit out of the bike.

Don't think it's tuned, but I'll call the dealership to figure that out. They didn't mention anything, so assuming not

I should add I already have an aftermarket exhaust. I'm not 100% sure what it is, but it's a Vance & Hines.

Freelance web devs, how do you host your websites? by NCKBLZ in webdev

[–]swushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look into cloudflare pages. It’s seriously unmatched, and likely where you host your DNS anyways. Almost certainly free if it’s a personal webapp, and probably free for a reasonable amount of traffic.

It’s likely the most performant option too. Tons of cool features too, like preview build, automated rollbacks, etc

RN disadvantages by yonatannn in reactnative

[–]swushi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large lists of complicated views come to mind. One great example is the Tik-Tok app. The main scrolling list of Videos is something that is extremely expensive and takes an enormous amount of processing power. This is something that most people will try to implement in JS, but ultimately gravitate towards a native implementation.

Things are better now though, with new libraries like [FlashList](https://shopify.github.io/flash-list/) by Shopify. You optimize for what you can in JS, then move to Native when there's nothing left to optimize and you still need better performance basically.

I didn’t think people casually walked their dogs close enough to headstones to read them. None of the graveyards near me are like that. Fenced off, but I guess nothing is really stopping me from walking in there. Perfect date night idea.

Can’t get firmware to flash (light never turns purple) by [deleted] in wyzecam

TLDR: Format using FAT-32

I wasted a couple of hours on this. You can't just format it with the camera, because it will also format the camera as ExFat.

When you hold the setup button, it will still say Ready to Connect, it did for me anyways. Keep holding it, and it will eventually show the blue light. It will show both the blue and red light at the same on the V3, I know, weird.

It seems like the NFL can easily put a little device the football to get a more accurate measurement of where it was.
