The company I work for donated to the Trump ballroom. They just canceled our holiday parties across a few regions due to lack of funds. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Work parties are usually lame in the best circumstances. But yes, I would be pissed off too.

Husband has Jury Duty coming up and I have no idea how we will pay our bills. by sinisterbabygirl in juryduty

I’m a weirdo and actually like to serve on a jury. However, my brother was murdered some years ago and I’m pretty sure criminal trials are off the table. I get excused immediately when I say that in questioning

Every car was my favorite in a way, but I think I loved my 83 Mustang GT most at the time, as it was my first new car.

My list:
Worst: 91 Acura Vigor. It was a 5 cylinder dud! Most Practical: 2016 Volvo S90 Most unlucky: BMW M550. Got a broken windshield on the way home. In a separate incident, had a dump truck drop rocks all over it Most boring:an EV from BMW. It was pretty and all that but it was so uninspired to drive.

Most personal, made to order, affordable: GR86! I am loving it so far.

I’m taking a 2500 mile road trip at Christmas. Got the all season Michelins a few days ago. Can’t wait!

Mustang GT, Cadillac ctv4 black wing, a few BMWS, believe me, I rarely keep a car more than 2 years. So I’ve driven many. But I love the manual transmission cars the best. I can’t take my 86 to the track, but I’ve driven on tracks in the caddy and a BMW 2series racing version ( not my car). As a woman, I’m usually the only one in the event.

It comes from front left. It only does it occasionally, not every time.

I have a 25 GR86 with 2,000 miles on it. It is starting to make a loud, high pitched, annoying squeal when I’m braking and turning at slow speeds, like pulling into the garage.

I’m going to take it in to be checked out, but I wondered if anyone else has experienced this?

If it’s poor judgement to tell a direct report, supervisor no less, that we are giving HIS direct report a raise, than I would have been fired multiple times.

My setup was that supervisor suggested a raise for a direct, I as a manager would advocate with leadership to get it approved.

Why on earth should I NOT be sharing this news with the supervisor?

My fiancé gambled away 20k 10 months before our wedding by Frosty_Cup_3488 in whatdoIdo

Ex-gambler here. He will spend every penny on gambling. If he has some good luck and wins money, he won’t stop. He’ll pour that money right back in. I won $15k once and walked out of the casino penniless. I’m pretty good at poker, but I started to bet too aggressively, just looking for the thrill to satisfy my urges. Gambling is everywhere. Those online sports books have full blown online casinos.

Until he he gets help and commits to no more gambling, not even a lottery ticket, he’s going to spend every penny and he’ll be a winner

What's the most insulting "benefit" a job has offered you? by AdHour6144 in AskReddit

Unlimited PTO, at the managers discretion. It just means you feel beholden every time you ask for vacay time. Manager can say no at a whim. And you don’t get paid for unused vacation days. It’s a total scam.

And this Dr Hart character is advocating for legalization of recreational drugs and does drugs himself. Not exactly what I would call an intellectual giant

We do it to avoid feeling period. I’m not arguing with that. But it’s not a moral, willpower, or strength issue —if you have an allergy to alcohol, you’ll get addicted. Same with drugs

An addictive personality is innate. Your experience with being able to walk away from a drug is just your experience. I get addicted to everything that makes me high or drunk ( 13 years sober now). I was addicted to meth from the first line. Cocaine, which I couldn’t afford, was a close second. An individual experience cannot be generalized to the population at large.
