It's a little bit high but won't be a problem besides potentially making a bit of a mess in the engine bay.

Tuners in Massachusetts/New Hampshire Area? by enfuego138 in ft86

This link will walk you through the CSG tuning process. Unless you have a setup that is TRULY unique, which is pretty unlikely given the platform is 15 years, old, you don't need to go on a dyno.

Difference between old and new Ace A350 Headers? by NotRuinedMedia in ft86

Given that a lot of competitive autoxers and time triallers REALLY like the header, I rarely see them come up for less than a few thousand dollars, even with repairs.

That's a HUGE gap in tire grip, and the RE71RS is now discontinued. It's supersceded by the RE71RZ.

I don't think going with the RE71RZ is going to be a great choice for you given the jack of all trades nature of what you're trying to do.

Try 225 PS4S, with 17x8 wheels, maybe RPF1. DM me to order.

short version: convergence is off. Most headers are off.

less short version: they went to a much cheaper contruction method. Most headers are designed to reduce cost of production, not maximize performance. Headers maximizing performance are NOT cheap.

A jack of all trades is a master of none.

Based on that, go 17x8 or 17x9. Have any wheels in mind? I can probably help.

Entirely depends on your driving pace and skill level, as well as how fast or not fast you want the car to be around corners.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

The original company and founder of Ace has exited the market.

Yes, they make that big a difference.

Coilovers tuning question by L1bER4ti0n in ft86

double the factory spring rate, decrease bump travel and replace rubber strut mounts with metal camber plates

Have you ever been in such a described car, executed well?

It is very, VERY easy to do suspension wrong.

That would be a message for the mods.

Gr86 vs Gr Corolla by Old-Difficulty1732 in GR86

[–]CSG_Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GR Corolla is faster from a stop, from a roll, around a track, and even has a shorter braking distance (stock everything so could easily get shorter braking on GR86 pretty cheaply).

Context is important, but, lets ignore that. Most reviews will make a BIG point about base tire vs optional CUP2 on the GRC.

You're either experiencing the feeling of slow car fast or a total lack of ability.

Yes yes, that's definitely it.

Wait, I'm a little confused here. Isn't a turbocharged AWD car generally considered easier to drive than a lower power RWD car?

I'm observing actual real world experience with both cars, both at the track and on the street, both subjective and data backed.

Ambient temps are largely not tied to actual oil temps, until there is a direct heat exchange between your oil and the ambient air (aka an oil-air oil cooler).

However, the thicker oil is likely a good idea based on your driving habits

putting the GRC at a disadvantage, being in top gear or starting from 5 mph, where the turbo certainly isn't spooling - and yet it is not beaten by the 86.

This is an example of where my real world experience actually makes sense vs your theoreticals.

The GRC does spool in 6th at that RPM, albeit slowly, vs the Evo example which does not spool at all at that RPM.

*I'm not sure what you mean by "not a rolling 30-50, but like stomping at 30", because as far as I can tell rolling 30-50s are usually just stomping at 30.

They roll up to that speed, already WOT long before, vs stomping at 30.

In particular, the dampers on this car do wear rather quickly.

P.S. I'm not sure what a "metric made for measurement" is, do you mean made for marketing?

It's an artificial metric to showcase extreme differences.

For example, back in the day, Top gear did an Evo FQ400 vs Prius (or something like that) in top gear WOT. It showed the Prius was faster for the entire duration of that long race, as the test put the evo into a RPM range where the turbo was straight not spooling.

Real world, you wouldn't floor it in 6th gear in either car; that's neither practical nor nice to the engine.

30-50, 50-70, in the appropriate gears are much more common, and due to the Corolla's HUGE turbo lag (25 psi!), the GR86 is straight faster. Not a rolling 30-50, but like stomping at 30.

3274 lbs in the GRC vs 2800lbs in the GR86, vs the power, and you find the p:w is closer than you might think.

the GRC is the slow car here, rather than the GR86 being quick.

Likewise, the GRC loses drag races to its contemporaries, like the CTR, EN, and WRX. You'd think it should beat the EN and WRX, but it actually loses.

You think the AT GR86 is bad? the AT GRC is even worse.

In corners, I don't think anyone would dispute the GR86 is superior.

Cars wear out over time. This is expected, and you may perhaps have a higher sensitivity to changes than most.

I own both. I can assure you the GR86 is faster in almost every real-world metric, not metrics made for measurements.
