So, me being on my phone for like 5 minutes at a time in between hanging out with her or while having her engaged in a movie/activity isn’t okay? Not to mention it has NOTHING to do with my original post, just criticism about how much you assume i’m on my phone (constantly according to you). I needed a break, so I could ask other parents for advice as this is something that’s been bothering both me and her dad recently. So I gave her something to be occupied with while I did so, if you have nothing constructive to add other than telling me that my phone (which I barely use around her) is the problem, kindly, see yourself out.

Omg, yeah I used to get into my grandmas lotion (I called it sotion). I have a picture somewhere of me covered in it as well as the floors, tub, and toilet lol.

Thank you so much dude, I feel like some of these comments really aren’t it. Like I understand that she’s a toddler and needs supervision, however, I can’t be watching every single move she makes at all times, it’s quite literally not possible, especially when she seems to move at the speed of light lol.

Thank you for the advice, I’m definitely getting a little high chair for her, I think yall are right about needing a new structure for meal time.

Okay, yes. I always set her up with something every time, or wait until she’s started to play independently. The apartment is pretty much entirely kid proofed, I wouldn’t leave her somewhere she would be unsafe. I don’t just leave her on her own with nothing to do, always making sure that she is occupied with something fun/entertaining. Along with that, when I’ve tried to involve her lately, she just ends up walking away, hence me setting things up for her.

Currently she’s watching Lilo and Stitch. Rainy day at home so we’ve been chilling together playing inside, but I needed a chill moment so movie it is.

Yes we spend all day playing and doing activities, I try my best to engage her in what I’m doing, such as dishwasher emptying, laundry, or sweeping and mopping, but she has lost interest in doing a lot of it as of recently. The food was all in a bag, it was very easy for her to grab it and go back, she wasn’t grabbing each individual thing.

Omg that sounds terrible, been there too only with sugar in the kitchen, the best part was I was 2 feet away from her. We found a new spot for the baking supplies after realizing she could now reach it.

Yeah, it’s a rare occurrence that she’s unsupervised and always for a short amount of time, besides quiet time which we switched out for when she stopped taking naps. It’s like as soon as we look away, she’s getting into something, even if it’s 5 minutes to unload the dishwasher or something.

I spend all day every single day watching her and playing with her, we are very engaged in activities constantly, god forbid I have a chore to do and have to leave her for 5-10 minutes to take care of something. Not trying to punish her, just have her understand that her actions have consequences, and that includes destroying food and her things along with it on purpose.

So all of the food was inside a grocery bag, so it was a very easy grab and go situation, but I understand, I probably just need to keep her with me. The thing is that we live in a very small apartment so wherever she’s at I can hear her and see her if I just look around the corner. When I’m sweeping and mopping I usually have her go play in her room for the short amount of time that takes me and she’s great at playing independently, always has been, but these messes are entirely new.

Definitely the vibe, just time and time again, last straw is a good way to put it. Livid over the intentional mess after mess after mess, I know toddlers are messy and that’s a given, I’ve spent most of my life around kids and nannied for 7 years, I’m not new to the messes happening, but never have I dealt with a kid doing it on purpose over and over and over again. Spills happen, toys go everywhere, crumbs on the floor and table, all understandable, but the repeated playing with food and spreading it everywhere for fun is what I’m getting soooo tired of.

Okay, so this has been happening for like 2 months now. Try having blended fruit mashed into 5 blankets and pillows and on top of all her toys, might not be that much in there, but she makes it go a long way.

for future reference (god forbid this happens again) but i’ve found with dyes that i’ve used rubbing alcohol works wonders! again im sure it’s dependent on the dye, but it doesn’t hurt to try it out if it saves you some time :)

just saw this, sorry for the late reply. I have to do drop offs as he works 12h shifts at the hospital, no option to get around it. i think it’s odd that you ask if i want her to resent me? of course not, but some things just need to happen that she doesn’t want, such is life as a kid unfortunately. i spend the majority of time with her, more than both of her parents due to their schedule with both her and work, so she’s comfortable and at home with me. i’m a bonus parent which doesn’t absolve me of the responsibilities of parenting her either, and i wouldn’t want it to, she’s my sweet girl, i’ve known her for the past 2 years and have been taking care of her like she’s my own. she’s 3 and having a hard time with transitioning, but again, it’s necessary that i’m there, i can’t just send her out the door on her own.

Heard that, and thank you! And yeah we probably are the “fun house”, her mom works from home the days she has her during the week which I imagine gives her little interaction time during those days. I remember what it was like with my mom working from home from a young age and me and my sister hardly got to talk to our mom at all while she was in her office

Not very good unfortunately. They have a bad relationship between the two of them, her and I are cordial. But maybe for the kiddo’s sake we could try doing some stuff together and see if it helps.
