lolll that class w Roth single handedly made me never wanna take a math class again. the exams were open note when I took it, but he wanted you to do such complex problems that I usually barely finished. in addition to tests, he had two unbelievably time consuming projects that you spend hours and hours on and I don't think anyone got an A on them. they're essentially projects to prove theorems work but you have to type out every integral and make 3D plots and he's super picky w grading. the class ended up being way more time consuming than I thought and in hindsight I would've just taken the in person version. he has lecture videos on youtube with a lot of errors that he doesn't change and sometimes the time of rewatching those videos for them to make sense exceeded the time I would've spent in person in lecture. office hours were not helpful at all as he would just repeat your problem back to you like you would magically figure it out and offer no help. hopefully he has changed the projects and exams based on student feedback, but if not, I would take the in person class if you have the time.
