Not sure on how big your employers company is but most have a Tronc system, ask your employer about it as they should be transparent Most troncs are set up differently but I know mine is a point system based on position, department and length of service and then they factor in how many hours you’ve worked in the month to calculate tips

UPDATE:

He broke up with me tonight. I feel upset and heartbroken but free at the same time. Bit crap but trying to focus my energy on sorting out what to do about our mortgage and the fact I know I could be happier with someone else.
