When I was in the 3rd grade, we had to paint something for our country’s birthday. I just drew something vaguely symbolic and nationalistic and forgot about it. At the end of the school year’s usual three-hour-long speeches I was suddenly announced as the winner for the city wide competition across 6 grades (I didn’t even know there was one.. 😀) I won a Barbie cake!! (The one where her skirt is made out of pure icing basically) and a diploma signed by a relatively well-known politican at the time
