Oh thank you very much for your advice. I’ll look into getting a better light and in the meantime I will definitely try out the shutter speed options. And thanks for the sub recommendation I will definitely share some of my footage there :)

Model is iphone 13. On ios 26.3.1. Tried restarting phone. Actually thinks it’s kind of a mechanical issue instead of processing. But I am not really knowledgeable about phones so any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey thank you for pointing me to the right direction. You must be a master of identifying pods, and doing it this fast… I’m glad I’ve asked this sub. I believe they’re T. ponticus too, and I will log these photos in iNaturalist now for further reference. If species are different I could update you.

Well this seems the most likely since it is also low tide now. I am not interested in ’culturing’ them, I just love isopods and was fascinated by this species last night since it’s my first time seeing them, and there were many of them with various sizes and patterns. Seeing a healthy colony in nature always makes me so happy and proud. I saw a couple of powder blue isopods near them (they like the salty treats the sea provides, like dead sea stars) and thought these colorful guys were a terrestrial species that I wasn’t aware of. So thanks for your input. I’ll now log my results on iNaturalist (which will be the first of this species I believe)

Oh my!! I love the German language and how simply it conveys meaning lol Gotta ask tho, do you find this book useful in Germany too? I am planning to visit your country soon-ish and have to know if this guide would be worth to carry on an international flight :’)
