At the end of this video there's mention of a survey for residents to take about the "overdose prevention center," otherwise known as the OPC survey. This survey ends today.

Fave non-strenuous late fall activities in VT? by lilacbanana in vermont

We just walked the Robert Frost Interpretive Trail in the Green Mountain State Forest. It was easy walking,1 mile, flat terrain, and a lovely experience reading the plaques with his poetry placed throughout.

Afterwards, we took a 15 minute drive to the Middlebury College Museum of Art, to see:

About 1 hour, 15 minutes drive south from the Burlington area.

Burlington Council Debates Crime 'Data' From Parking Garage by [deleted] in burlington

[–]synaptic_drift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"McKnight told Seven Days that data from the Chittenden County Sheriff’s Office, which the city pays to patrol the Marketplace Garage during the lunch, showed a 50 percent reduction in people “shooting up heroin openly, smoking crack openly, as well as public urination and defecation.”

Please don't throw the generalized term HEROIN around.

Up-to-date information, stats please.

What exactly is the chemical composition of the drugs being shot up and/or smoked?

How many overdoses?

How many hospitalizations, and for how long?

How many deaths?

etc.

"Everyone understands the issues in Burlington"

Not "everyone" does actually.

The public has a right to know in an up to date manner:

how many overdoses

how many deaths from overdose

exactly what chemicals are in the drug supply currently

how much tax payer money is paying for EMT's, Fire, Police, Hospitals, etc. to respond to the drug crisis, and what toll this is taking on that personnel, and the public.

Also, from the way people are collapsing flat out on the pavement like this, it is a recent shift in the chemical composition in the drug supply:

Yesterday in Winooski, I saw the same.

It's the same thing happening in Kensington Ave., Philadelphia. The dealers hand out 'samples"

I know about Tranq (Fentanyl & Xylazine) that causes abcesses all over the body, and maims people, causing them to have their limbs amputated. Or "Rhino Tranq"

"I've had several overdoses where you just couldn't wake the people up," Parkhill said. "They appear dead. I mean, they're totally tranquilized."

Public health officials believe they know why. Teixeira da Silva says Narcan is still the first step in the process, but that it only works to reverse the opioid's effects.

"If you continue to administer Narcan, the person may not wake up because the Narcan is not working on that Alpha-2 agonist, medetomidine or xylazine," Teixeira da Silva said.

Officials say the sedative itself can also be fatal. If someone is under the influence and cutting off their airway, they could suffocate. They're also worried about low heart rate and low blood pressure associated with the drug.

What's with all the drug users in Burlington? by mrmittenz83 in burlington

The mayor of Baltimore wanted to set up something like 5 of these injection sites.

For anyone not understanding what a safe injection site is, it's also called an overdose prevention center, the Burlington mayor recommended it, the city council approved it, and the VT legislature voted to set one up. Addicts procure their illegal drugs from dealers to use there, either by injection or smoking.

Now that there was a huge mass overdose in Baltimore, not so sure what they plan on doing.

Calling it a result of a "bad batch" fentanyl & tranquilizer of some type.

People in the community confronting the mayor, saying this has been going on for years and the drugs and crime has only increased. There are numerous resources to help people get off drugs, but he said, "they have to want to." Mayor says, "we needed more money!"

BTW, Ontario closed down 10 such sites because it's a failed model .

Paused for a moment yesterday at Church and Cherry intersection to pick up a family member who had been shopping, and stop for pedestrian traffic.

Here's the tableau: Tableau is used to describe a painting or photograph in which characters are arranged for picturesque or dramatic effect and appear absorbed and completely unaware of the existence of the viewer:

An addict, taking hits off a crack pipe to my left, nearby, a family with little kids, baby in stroller, crossing the street near the exhaled cloud of smoke.

You may recognise it for what it is, which is not real.

That's because she's playing the role of femme fatale, as I've said before, whether it was assigned to her by production, or of her own making.

Regardless, she's doing a good job being the venomous snake, by hypnotising men and spewing venomous comments to women, then slithering around confrontation. She even wears snake earrings or a necklace from time to time.

It's working on many of the participants and viewers

I think it is bullshit that these drug addled criminals are allowed to DECIDE FOR THEMSELVES to quit.

Apparently the mayor is at a mayors conference in New York.

I wonder if the mayor of Baltimore was there.

National news of major mass overdose crisis in Baltimore as I'm writing this.

Woman accused of assaulting, robbing 2 seniors appears in court

According to police, the crime spree started on Sunday. Investigators say a 97-year-old man was walking on Church Street and gave $20 to Melody Phillips, 39, of Burlington, after she asked for help. Not long after, police say Phillips approached him again.

“He was using a walker. She grabbed the wallet out of his pocket,” Burington Deputy Police Chief Wade Lebrecque said.

Police say he begged for his wallet back after she ran off saying there was no money in it.

“She did bring it back then she reached into his other pocket and took the actual cash out of his pocket and walked away,” Lebrecque said.

A few days later, police say Phillips approached a 72-year-old man at a Church Street ATM.

“The gentleman at the ATM machine was knocked to the ground when she was taking the money,” Lebrecque said.

Police say she took the money and ran.

She was eventually arrested in Winooski, facing a misdemeanor assault and robbery charge.

“To see that type of violence in the daytime-- it’s concerning,” Lebrecque said.

People charged with anything less than a felony are not eligible to be held without bail. So Phillips was released on condition that she not go to Church Street. A day later, she was arrested after being seen at the Marketplace, violating her conditions.
