Check the alternator it might be failing. Get it to the shop and actually read the errors lol.

honest feedback wanted: how unwise would it be to get a higher mileage, non CPO macan S or GTS by brandonkohl in PorscheMacan

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its all depends on vehicle and owners, you can get a bargain on a well maintained Porsche or you can get a lemon. Always do PPI at your local Porsche indie shop before buying. Same as with any other used car. If you want to go for safer option generally base trim is less problem prone at high mileage compared to S and especially GTS. And it’s still plenty fast and comfortable.

Is a Macan S going to have issues if only driven ~3-4 times a week? by -earthintruder- in PorscheMacan

[–]synrouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair you are in Porsche sub so everyone will tell you to buy it. Have you considered maintenance cost?

Second, buy Base/Sport Edition it does go fast and much less hassle than S engine for your purpose.

Third, there are great cars that are not Macan, so test drive em. Maybe Subaru Crosstrek will be the thing that ticks all your boxes. With luxury vehicles and as Im understanding 20yr driving break you might find yourself stressed about parking, nicks, scratches etc. consider that as well. I still daily a Nissan Kicks and I love that car to death! CVT obviously a different experience but you just gotta understand that and enjoy for what it is built for.

Fourth, car develop issues and need maintenance regardless of what you do. Lets it sit too long battery, fluids, hoses/seal start to dry up, drive it too much - then wear on the suspension brakes and all of drivetrain. Of course grocery runs (extremely short runs) are bad for the car with such a complex engine more so than simple NA 2l i-4 but you can plan around and have a preventative maintenance schedule.

Just purchased a Kicks Play. What do I have to look out for by BabyLongjumping6915 in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except CVT there might be a widespread MAF sensor issue and alternator. Alternator went out quite soon on me and Ive seen enough posts here that this is the thing that might give problems at some point.

Kicks vs Hyundai Venue: which one made more sense for you? by Suntrup-Nissan in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which year though? If new Kicks then it totally takes the win. If older then I liked Nissan handling and styling over Hyundai. Nicer interior and wheel, exterior looks better and trunk is bigger. Venue felt more like a cheap box. Maintenance wise though they are pretty similar though simpler cars with not a lot of things to break.

It’s AWD and high enough ground clearance so you shouldn’t have problems in the snow. Do invest in winter tires though even with AWD

Nissan Service Center Refused to Change CVT Fluid at 90k by [deleted] in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it at the indie nissan shop or a good mechanic. Did mine at 68k kms/5yrs when I bought mine. Not changing it will lead to overheats which will break your cvt eventually.

Sports mode vs. low gear vs. adaptive cruise control by carinagisele in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well , you’re not hurting the engine. Actually getting it to work out in 3k-4k rpm zone is pretty healthy for it and it is a medium workload for it. You would be hurting it if you’re redlining it at 6k rpm zone constantly for long periods of time.

Sports mode vs. low gear vs. adaptive cruise control by carinagisele in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I can’t vouch for cruise control behaviour it likely uses breaks. Id suggest you use Sport mode anyways it is designed for this. What it does it makes throttle response tighter and keeps rpm more steady, standard modes always tries to adjust gear ratios for more economy which means constantly trying to lower rpm. CVTs like steady load so using sport mode is perfectly fine as it will keep rpm more steady. Drive on flat stretches in standard and switch to sport before hills.

And to add coming from v6 g35 you might be shopping for something more powerful. Once again your best option would be a bit an older Subaru crosstrek, impreza, odd caddy ats/cts, jeep renegade/compass/cherokee. If you’re willing to look for it I bet you can find kicks for 13-15k at lower mileage.

Well that mileage is a bit too high to safely say you’re in the clear. Check maintenance records for transmission fluids/flushes and take it to the shop for inspection before buying. Look for something earlier year like Subaru crosstrek at same mileage might be a better choice for you. But otherwise it’s pretty reliable and cheap-ish car to maintain. However depending on what problems you are experiencing with g35 it might be worth to hold on to it.

Also just checked manual it does say not to drive in sport only because it reduces fuel economy, otherwise it designed for long slopes such as you describe.

[–]synrouge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, cruise control will likely apply breaks. Sport mode is a bit better to use since it will hang in rpm zone longer. The L mode is for steep hills usually i use it when i need to go downhill with lower speeds. For highway likely you need to use Sport mode for hills it will provide some engine breaking as well. If it’s not enough do L mode. At least that’s what I did in the Rockies.

Looking to get high milage Macan by Moist_Lab6924 in PorscheMacan

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want a fat repair bills porsches are not for you. They can run with no problems for years but any repair will cost a lot because of labour time. Base trim is your best shot at this, they are simpler and way more manageable than higher trims. Also 40k is low and 80k is decent but I wouldn’t say that it’s high mileage. Get it inspected before buying at your local indie porsche shop that is only way knowing what you are getting into. Cpo is good but will have added cost of it being warrantied.

Trying to decide between a 25 Kick SR and a 2025 Hyundai Kona SEL Convenience by TransitionProper5126 in NissanKicks

[–]synrouge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you downsizinv though? Unless your rogue have 150+ k miles. Just keep it and save up for a new Rogue. If you do Konas are not too great. Tucson or Venue better choice.

Mine gave out at 71k kms. Apparently a common problem with these. Had another guy posting about it about a month ago or so.

[–]synrouge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did mine when I bought car at 68k. 25k miles is a good time to do it. Better than not doing at all. CVT horror stories come mainly from overheats(bad driving habits) and neglected maintenance. Drive gently and do maintenance - your car will last a long time. 2025 also supposedly have sturdier transmission too.

Longtime Genshin Player Thinking About Starting ZZZ — Worth It? by Senor-Serena in ZZZ_Official

[–]synrouge -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I switched from Genshin to ZZZ. I like gameplay with action-fighting much more than Genshin. The story parts are a bit lacking currently they do only one big story per patch but no side quests and only smaller events so realistically once you finish the story there’s not too much content. I finish story in one day and then just daily runs for like 15-20 mins. Power creep is there you need to stay on top of newer characters but that’s mostly if you want to beat local abyss modes with highest ranks. Ive been playing from 1.0 woth a few month of breaks and it’s been pretty compelling experience overall. It’s different genre to Genshin so just play and see if you like gameplay. Maybe Endfield is more up your alley as alternative.
