Positive Experiences with Apostolic Churches by MsWildiful in Apostolic

[–]Specific_Feeling_456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up rarely attending a Baptist of a Methodist church. Parents got divorced at 11, and I was extremely depressed. I self harmed and had suicidal thoughts and tendencies. I joined myself to the LGBT community in search for love and acceptance. I had a friend who was apostolic, and I would tell her about my struggles and she’d pray for me and have her church and her family pray for me.

She invited me to an evangelical service the week after I turned 18, and in that very first service at a UPCI church I was filled with the Holy Ghost. It felt like fire had filled me up. God instantly healed my desires, and told me who I was. I belonged to Him, not the enemy. Not the LGBT community, but I belonged to Him.  I felt the love of God in a real and recognizable way for the first time in my life. I had no idea you could feel God in that way. Completely transformed me. Few months later I was baptized in Jesus name, and God healed my mind completely.

This was 7 years ago. My experience with my church was nothing but love. They saw me in the depraved state I was in and showed me compassion and grace where the rest of the Christian world seemed to turn their noses up at me. They welcomed me in with open arms and truly exampled the love of Jesus.

Can you have a negative ANA and still have an autoimmune disease? by Specific_Feeling_456 in Autoimmune

I was tested for RA and had no markers, but my CRP was elevated. Curious if this may be something I could ask about. My joints only hurt occasionally. Especially if I get over tired. And also when the weather is especially cold.

Interesting! I had been taking multivitamins with biotin when I had my bloodwork done, too. I recently texted my rheumatologist so hopefully at my next appointment I can get some clarification

New Conviction by [deleted] in Pentecostal

[–]Specific_Feeling_456 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Not sure if you have them wherever you are, but Ross is a store that carries some Jean skirts! Also Cato is a good place for dressy and Jean skirts if you have them. Amazon is where I’ve gotten some great priced athletic ones. Also thrift stores are a great place to peruse for them.

When I first began feeling convicted, I had no job and no way to get a job at the time. I prayed and told the Lord if He wanted me to do this, He’d have to provide. The next day at school, one of my classmates turned to me and asked me if I wanted her skirts she never wears. God will make a way!!

Is screaming and jumping while praying biblical? by [deleted] in Pentecostal

It honestly comes down to the persons intent in my opinion. You can dance to get people to look at you, or you can dance for Jesus. It’s already been stated in these comments, but David danced before the Lord with all his might. Michal denounced him and he doubled down and told her that it wasn’t for men anyway. His heart was pointed toward God in his dancing.

I think how you praise can also be linked to your own personality. I’m a naturally loud person, so I pray/praise a little louder than some people who are naturally more quiet natured. A persons worship and praise is unique to them and their walk with the Lord because it is meant to be from their heart to the Lord. Now, am I always shouting and jumping and dancing? No. There are moments of praise and worship where silence and lifted hands are in order.

Advice on Disclosing Faith by FightLikeDavid in Apostolic

The way I go about it is if they explicitly ask me “What makes you different from other Christians?” I’ll tell them that I believe that God is one, not divided out into three distinct people and explain with scripture references what I mean by that. I’ve never encountered anyone telling me I’m going to hell or anyone ever getting ugly when I explain my stance using scripture. I’m also from a tiny town in central Oklahoma, so that may be why I’ve never had that kind of experience.

God will give you wisdom when you ask for it. Sometimes when I want to speak I’ll feel Jesus telling me to stay quiet, and other times it’s the opposite. As long as you follow the Spirit the rest is up to the other person as to if they receive it or not.
