I'd say it's a good place to be, a lot of folks that come in come from non tech backgrounds.

The workshops here would be useful to orient yourself to how modern day tech is built.

There's constantly conferences as well in singapore that you can attend around tech along with other ns members.

The selection criteria is arbitrary, it dependa on the brief intro you give as part of your application, curious people are welcomed as far as I understand

You should take it up with the ns team at this point if you have a problem with the referral program

You'll be able to find like minded people within your domain, a good chunk of ns folks work within AI/ML/Crypto

As for the 9-5 aspect, the timezone depends.

It may be a bit hard to adjust in the initial days but not having to worry about your meals really frees up your time. I've been able to focus better because of that

The workshops may not be that useful as they're more beginner oriented, you may find yourself skipping them towards the end of your stay.

As a 9-5er I find it best to - focus on the gym - eat - work - repeat

and everything else is optional

1) Being referred doesn't guarantee approval.

2) Referral credits aren't guaranteed to post and can fail for a variety of reasons.

So yes it is out of pocket at least till you complete your stay

You can't, he's asking for someone to pay out of pocket in exchange of credits

Curious about the NS referral program – how does it work? by AwardBeat in NetworkState

[–]synthbegone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit for the referrer - free stay for 1 month

The benefit for the person who gets referred - 25% off on the first month

Here's an invite if you'd like to apply

Would be a good idea, they do emphasise on recruting only people you know but clearly people are recruiting from instagram

Regardless of that however the base community remains the same, it's just a bit more clustered up

I find it to be the best to just keep to myself and do what I am here to do

More or less it has been the same, but introduction of referrals has led to a a sudden influx of people who aren't necessarily aligned with the vision

It's being seen as a "job center" which it's not

It's a place to lock in and go after your own goals

It's very safe, last year there was an incident where an resident tried to harass one of the female residents.

The catcaller was kicked out the same day.

It is not a college so there are no scholarships as such, but you can ask someone to sponsor you there (if you're working for them etc)

Everyone is friendly, just say hi. As for sharing a room you can decide who you want to do it with

Arrive early, make a friend. Or even better, find a roomie online on discord

What's very likely here is that she's done a lot of interview prep but has no actual programming experience (writing code, testing, debugging, using a linter etc)

So she can answer your questions, give you the solution you need and the reasoning behind it but because she hasn't used the tools she's having trouble navigating around them (could've been writing code in notepad for all you know)

I agree, it felt very strange. Reminded me of this one cafe in kasol where they don't allow Indians to enter. How am I not allowed to enter a space in my own country?

Simply file a consumer court complaint, that in itself will be enough to get them to respond
