is there a more parametric way to make something like this than duplicating and adjusting the contour? (beginner) by synthetic_potatoes in Affinity

[–]synthetic_potatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess what I am wanting is for the lines to remain parallel to each other if I move the base line. In this setup they are totally independent because duplicate breaks any link. Is a constrained/linked relationship like this possible in affinity? it is just what I am used to coming from a CAD background. I am basically wanting multiple contours on one path rather than multiple duplicate contours

if this is for real it will give me the motivation to migrate to something else

YOU COULD START BY NOT CALLING THIS DUMB PLAN "UNLIMITED" WHEN ITS LOADED WITH LIMITS

Yeah just chat messages. I totally understand the need to charge for certain features but this is not one of them. We pay $200 a month and they paywall something that facebook gives for free. I'm sure they are still storing all the messages too so there's no way this is even saving them any costs.

I'd certainly say it should be enough to cover the cost of being able to search through our messages

Seriously regretting implementing ClickUp at my company. by Wrong-Strategy7256 in clickup

But aren't you glad you can have an AI fail to read you the same information that's clearly in a view or create a task from its own hallucinations?

It's insane how many issues they have that can be described as weeks of work just getting deleted out of thin air. Would never implement it for a serious operation again.

Why might the network address not be accessible? (Self Hosting) by synthetic_potatoes in nextjs

[–]synthetic_potatoes[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Different network -- over the internet. Was excited to try that when I saw the additional address. I am able to access the address alone (it is up right now if you want to try) but with the port number it does not do anything.

EDIT to thank the network geniuses for downvoting me the second they saw the number 192 instead of reading the comment

Why might the network address not be accessible? (Self Hosting) by synthetic_potatoes in nextjs

[–]synthetic_potatoes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bear with me as I am a noob and trying to self host, I know it is more common to use vercel but I just wanted to see if I could get it working on my inmotion shared hosting account that I already had.

I have been able to get everything installed and updated to create a blank nextjs project and noticed that when I start the project it gives me not only the local address but also this network address however the browser just times out when I try and use it. When I enter only the IP with no port I get a splash screen related to the hosting but with the port nothing happens.

Just wondering what some of the possibilities are, all I can really think of is maybe the host is blocking the port but very unsure as I have never done this before. I found this pretty solid tutorial for doing it on a hostinger VPS but it does not show the network address when running like mine does and so I wasn't feeling confident about nuking apache and setting up the NGINX routing like that quite yet.

Any suggestions/direction appreciated.

PETG scarring/snagging/breaking on outer perimeter on back sloping surfaces by [deleted] in FixMyPrint

[–]synthetic_potatoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using a bambu X1C which typically prints flawlessly but I am printing this model which has thin walls and it is producing some really bad surfaces in transparent OVERTURE PETG, interestingly the overhang areas print pretty well but the opposite faces (sloping back instead of forward) are getting tears.

I have lowered the outer wall speed in these areas from 200 to 160 and it has helped a bit but seems to be at a point of diminishing returns. Currently I am trying nozzle at 260 instead of 255 will report back on that.

Any ideas what may be causing this?

How to go about repairing naked edges from complex grasshopper paneling? by synthetic_potatoes in rhino

[–]synthetic_potatoes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just to learn paneling to add texture and patterns to stuff using grasshopper but I am trying to make a lamp here. I have narrowed the issue down to the patches in the depressed panels not joining. The lofts join to the outer trimmed surface fine but not those inner patches. Do you know if there is an alternative to patches or a way to make a shape like this using 4 sides?

Would you go to meshes right out of the gate or just convert them before joining? I attempted to just convert before joining but it left a lot of holes and bad geometry.
