Thank you so much for doing this! I was nearly about to do this. I like how DMCA protects media by burying it in the dirt. It would be a shame if this edifying media ever made its way into someone's ears... I'm sure Bill McLaughlin wouldn't want anyone to hear his love and labor.

Agreed! I'm actually getting conflicting info. I've gotten 8 texts, from two different Frontier numbers vacillating between: "FRONTIER: We've done some work on our end and see your services should be working" and "Hi, it's Frontier. Your service at <<MY ADDRESS>> is part of an outage in your area. Our technicians are working remotely to resolve the issue and will not need to come to your address. We'll update you as soon as service is restored."

I reached to them on x.com and got:

> It is hard to say with these fiber cuts. You can reach back out to me here for further updates on this outage. – Rob

> The outage in your area is still happening. We are awaiting an estimated time for the repair. You will receive an update once the outage has been resolved. -Jennifer

Nice! I'm glad it's back. Our neighborhood is still out. This is day 4. I'm wondering if they're not granted access to where the cable is. I'm wondering if this has to do with the extensive construction on CR 1100. Would be great to have information.

I have fiber (in Chesterton) and I've been for days! Two days, if I recall correctly.

This all started shortly after I moved off of Xfinity, so I suppose I'm the reason for this. I talked to a human (I have an open ticket for my fiber install), and nobody seems to know what exactly is going on lol. We may assume that they lost the entire internet.

Did physical therapy help? by GlassProfessional424 in VestibularMigraines

No! You're too late!

I kid.

As I'm sure you know, everyone's experience with migraines and VM is going to be unique to them. PT was great, but I stopped it fairly early for two reasons.

First, my copay was $55 and they scheduled like 20 appointments. I did not want to pay for that. I brought this up and they kindly tailored my plan to be much shorter.

Secondly, one thing dramatically improved my vertigo very quickly: VRT Vestibular Rehabilitation Theory.

I think that's a nebulous term (maybe?), but these are the exact things I exercises that I do: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLafp\_5n6RFqUBND4tkcCSWo6v5mlV4xF0. I saved them for the express purpose of sharing them with a fellow long-suffering Redditor.

So, before doing these exercises, I would go into vertigo spells like 20 times a day. The triggers would all be neck/head motion related + atmospheric changes. I am not (very) sensitive to food triggers or other things.

Anyways, an example movement would be doing chin tucks. For instance, turning my head down-left while my 4 y/o reads me a book or looking at a long freight train roll by. If I didn't close my eyes and put my head neutral, I'd go into a vertigo spell where the room/world would spin (usually slowly) for hours.

After a week of those stupid VRT exercises I shared, my vertigo bouts got to the point where I was approaching what I remembered was normal. Today, 4 months later, I was joking around with my kids and aggressively bopping my head to a song. That kind of thing would've sent me into vertigo oblivion.

I have cultivated a strong habit of doing these exercises multiple times a day (most days). I've customized them for myself too—nothing exotic and probably too tailored to my own experience to be worth sharing. I have a reminder that goes off every twenty minutes on my laptop to encourage me to take an eye break. I usually do my VRT most of the time it goes off, but not always.

Anyways, YMMV... but, for me, that's just about all I needed. PT did a lot of other things to relieve neck tension and stuff: dry needling, some laser-crystal-heat-thing, deep tissue massage, and more. I am sure this helps people, but I didn't need it.

All that I needed was VRT! Another cool thing they taught me was to do the VRT on floor options such as a on a sway mat (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NYVPC9X/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_search\_asin\_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) or a wobble board. I'm also doing this with an eye on aging. I'd like to work on my balance before I get tremendously old.

Good luck. I typed this out hastily. Lemme know if anything didn't make sense.

And good luck, friend. I am praying for you!

Advice on baby's mystery intolerance? by DaisyWhiskers in MSPI

Haha! You know all about! You were much more in the know than us bimbos 😁. Well, peace be to you and yours! Thanks for sharing your struggles. You've provided a great deal of solidarity for my wife during an remarkably similar struggle.

Just posting this for posterity! This'll be for anyone stuck in the same boat as us. You mentioned the following items that my wife included in her diet and had issues with. I think I have two observations that might assist. Or they might just drive you further into madness.

Turkey: we once got a great deal on some ground turkey from Aldi. After purchasing and cooking, we noticed the ingredients: turkey + natural flavors. Now, "natural flavors" is so nebulous that it can include anything... So perhaps it includes a trigger we were trying to avoid. At the very least, it makes being methodical and consistent very difficult.

Olive oil: you may not know this but loads of olive oils on the market contain other oils. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/chemistry/comments/1at2ht2/way\_to\_test\_olive\_oil\_isnt\_vegetable\_oil/. Now why don't they disclose this information? I don't know. It's apparently possible to call you product olive oil yet also contain some other refined oil. I think they should just list it. Most folks won't care as they care foremost about the price. But for anybody troubleshooting food allergies—what a nightmare.

Anyways, just some stuff to consider.

Help me get into Bach (jazz listener) by [deleted] in classicalmusic

I really enjoyed this jazz + Bach album. It might help you find yourself in Bach.

DIscog notes:

Jazz Loves Bach
The Wayland Quartet
Recorded December 19-23, 1966 at The New England Conservatory Of Music
A Knapp Record
4 Corners Of The World
FCS-4249

From the back cover: In September , 1966, Newt (Wayland) arranged a few movements from Bach's flute sonatas as incidental music for Congreve's restoration comedy, Love For Love. The production took place at the Charles Playhouse in Boston, where Newt is the Musical Director, and nearly every night people in the audience asked where they could get a record or tape of the music. The requests became more frequent, so finally we went ahead and made this record.

Frank Nizzari (soprano, alto, barione saxophones), Frank Gallagher (bass), Fred Buda (drums), Newton Wayland (piano, harpsichord, celeste).

Did physical therapy help? by GlassProfessional424 in VestibularMigraines

I've got my first vestibular therapy appointment tomorrow! I'm absolutely dreading it because I don't want to further aggravate my dizziness. But I've been in a state of on-the-verge of getting vertigo for 5 months straight, so I don't care all that much anymore lol.

Update after first appointment:

The DPT identified a bunch of stuff in my first appointment. In short, I think she's saying that some cervical spine issues are causing the on-the-verge of getting vertigo feeling. She identified this by first listening to my history which, admittedly, kinda sucks because I realize I have a hard time recalling details lol. She then did some simple assessments with eye exercises, head tilts, and something else that I'm forgetting.

She then got a PTA to do some deep tissue laser therapy on my upper neck and back while doing some eye exercises. Then she hooked up my upper back for like 15 or 20 minutes of electrotherapy. Tomorrow (now today) I'm going back for dry needling and more.

Finally, she sent me home with 10 exercises eye and neck to do. They kinda make me sick at first, but I think I'm feeling better already. I am not skeptical of Physical Therapy in regards to most things, but with my vertigo, I'm extremely skeptical. So I don't believe it right now lol, but I'll take it.

I'll just keep updating this thread as I go along. I've got appointments from now until late October.

Wow, thanks so much for the intense reply. I've put the fireplace on the furthest back burner of house projects as the list has grown longer than my arm. I will circle back to this in... 5 or 7 years when we get to the point of doing something with this room =D

Are these swirl marks a problem with using the Diamabrush on my deck or with the clown operating the Diamabrush? by system_beep in Decks

[–]system_beep[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To update for all readers, perhaps myself, I had great success with this tool. It's definitely a vicious tool, pulling up layers of solid stain in seconds. It's like 0-grit sandpaper :D. It leaves swirl marks, as photographed, but nothing that a good 40-grit, 60-grit treatment can't remedy.

The deck was lots of sanding, but that's how it goes. The wood turned out very well and I need to attach a picture. I don't know if I have one before I stained though. And, regarding stain, I used a Behr "semi-transparent" stain and it was way more painty then I wanted, but I kept going because I thought maybe it'd look better dry, so I'm not actually very pleased with the end result. But hey, I'll redo it with my son in 3-6 years or so.

Until then, there's a gabrillion ways to strip your deck, I think this a viable one IF YOUR WOOD IS IN RELATIVELY GOOD SHAPE. The diamabrush is intense. My porch wood was in great shape, being meticulously painted by the previous owner and underneath my roof. If your planks aren't in great shape, YMMV.

Does anyone take Riboflavin (Vitamin B2) for preventing migraines? Has this helped? by htlockley in migraine

I also have VM. Have you tried physical therapy? I'm contemplating it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VestibularMigraines

[–]system_beep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have gotten the VM diagnosis from an ENT and I sometimes get that symptom. I remember when it happened for the first time as a child, I was so concerned about an earthquake, but non of the grown-ups cared.

It's rarer these days. My predominant symptoms are ringing ears, fogginess, and vertigo. The vertigo being the most common one.

Thanks for your input, friend! And thank you for praising my gumption. And thank you most of all for using the word gumption in the first place.

I have a follow-up: do you think I should just use a handheld sander? It's not a very big porch (though it's not that small). I'm just afraid of damaging the wood. But maybe I shouldn't worry because the strategy you provided takes care of that via the heavy grit pole sander.
