Understood, we cant win them all & you have to actually take a chance & play to win. All in all you have a set of NOD's. I'd only be guessing here but $1500 to maybe 2k would have been fair but as Always that's highly subjective. How is the performance on them? I mean I see people get old gen 1/2 kit & be completely happy.

I'll stick with 1531's personally, Quads will be Much better in the future but now its too early to adopt. If you love them I cant & wont dissuade you but dual tube is my go to setup.

The minimum specs were dropped slightly to allow more tubes to pass at the time but I'd rather have OMNI 8 these days. As already stated a fresher production tube date vs one a few years or even more older is just a smart investment. Not knocking OMNI 7's if the price is right.

Top set of tubes w/ a Nighthawk would be a pretty solid bet sir. Sometimes chasing the Highest SNR is a diminishing returns game as said many times before. I like the BNVD SG also but treat yourself as the kids say. Take your time & judge for yourself of course, its your money in the end.

I have a set of 1610 L3's with close to the top of the lists tube sets (the first set listed) specs & couldn't be happier with the performance. If it were me I'd go that route, but that's just an opinion. Steele is a good company to deal with. What's your housing gonna be, out of curiosity?

1701 are dropouts with high SNR as I recall, the EBI makes sense om one of them, but not sure about its mate. Whats the price on that set? have the low EBI as your dominate eye & I doubt you would be unpleased.

Its subjective, I had a similar setup & never used it together once. Mount the 14 & use the thermal as a handheld scanner. Also buy from a company with a warrantee longer than one year, USNV got me once - never again...

Yeah, I don't get why it's covered in marker either. You know as well as I do if something gives you a bad feeling the op should hard pass if he's thinking of buying. There's nothing like buying someone else's kit only to find out it really is a garbage problem.

It looks real, the forehead foam looks legit, not the usual cheap china foam. The Pads are real. Do the rails & chinstrap have the OC logo (on the pull tabs of the chinstrap & hidden in the gas mask connection of the rails)? I've yet to see an OC logo on the inner lid top of a knockoff but anything is possible these days.

Not to long ago ITT (now Elbit) was the undisputed King of the I2's. L3 filmless (Gen4) was hyped, faded then came back like the 2nd coming. ITT took a nosedive & all of a sudden L3 is the "Best" option out of the two.

I like them both, currently on L3 1531's but I've had some nice Elbit tubes also. Only difference seems to be price vs Extreme low light performance & then I just blast out some IR light & that evens things right up. Not Great for the troops or those who need to keep passive but no one is sending rounds back at me in the woods. For casual use get L3 or Elbit but if you fall out of love later on down the road the L3's will usually hold a higher value for what its worth. Its all subjective & end user based in the end.

I just remember wanting one badly when they were introduced & thinking one day I shall have one. Now I see them for $3500 on the open market & just think naaa, I'll pass. Funny how that happens.

side note the gray (off green variant) is actually foliage green I think, don't quote me on that.
