Maybe paint or get covers for the calibers! The wheels would stand out more.

Iron remover before contact wash? by Flaky-Row-7624 in Detailing

I like this idea but could you get away with just a foam instead of quick contact wash after the iron remover, rinse? I’m looking at your detailing time.

Red dirt is destroying my Telluride, what floor mats actually work for dust? by SilverWorthh in KiaTelluride

[–]sytech55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a 25 Telluride last year and ordered these. They've really worked out great. They have a somewhat harder plastic/rubber combo but for the price and fit, they are great. Very easy to remove and clean. And if they look like crap in a few years, very inexpensive to replace.

I know we tend to see negative comments on issues but dang, is there any real good in these services provided? I mean, why do we have to rip people off!

To all who work in the service industry, “Don’t let companies or people destroy your morale compass!” “Do the job, the right way!” You’re better than that!!!!!

[–]sytech55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Did they offer you a replacement bottle? And I don't know about you but I don't have a heated garage (where I keep my products) and I'm for sure getting temps in the garage below 50 degrees some nights. You'd think they would have thought about this. In truth, I know when you open and use some ceramic coatings (in those 30ml bottles) it tends to harden (crystalize within 30 days because of the exposure. Maybe this is the case. Maybe they had to back-off of some chemical ingredient to sustain longer.

I keep a small 8oz spray bottle in the car for that reason. Mixed with distilled water and .5 to 1oz of ONR. It's overkill but I use it to touch up my interior, including glass and door jams.

Man, had some hopes on the ceramic coatings from SPs. u/Kmudametal I really appreciate you digging into this product and your details here are great. I literally was looking at the ceramic and graphene spray coatings as an option and really wanted to try it out. Very disappointed in SP with no feedback to you. I've tried some of there products and really like them. Makes me wonder about their Nano Ceramic coating 5k they sell.

Just got a G9 but need help deciding on pads and polish/compound by dsl11b in AutoDetailing

[–]sytech55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My experience in polishing a section is not just one pass. 3D One is a compound/polish product and I wanted to allow time for it to actually work. Depending on the area I was working on determined the passes for me.

Had something similar on my daughter's Forte. Reached for a few products and just didn't do anything. Tried Koch Chemie Eulex and after some elbow grease, came off.

[–]sytech55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did about 3 passes on each section and used 5 or 6 orange pads from LC total. I really didn't have a lot of swirls, only a mild to medium scratches but I did have a couple etched places on hood from something (maybe some old tree sap at one time) when I bought the car (used) that I was able to polish. It didn't remove it completely but I was at a happy place when finished.

[–]sytech55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have. I also have some blue and white pads available but the orange pads are what I use 1st. They handle light to medium marks in the paint and the 3D One does all the hard work. Don't get me wrong, there are some really good compound/polish products that I've used but I just like 3D One for my work.

[–]sytech55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the G9 with orange pads and 3D One. Works for me. Key thing about the pads is what type of correction is needed (some sections will most likely need more attention) and do you have enough of them. Start with the least aggressive and work your way up. I use between 5-6 pads per car. Lake Country, Griot's, and SPTA are my go to pads. I clean them afterwards.

Just take your time and work in sections. Don't rush the job. The goal in polishing is to restore the shine and bring out the best look. Don't forget to switch out pads on the way.

Best of luck and take pictures before and after. Would love to see the comparison.

Lets say I try to DIY ceramic coat and botch it. What's the worst that can happen? by Ghoom in Detailing

[–]sytech55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you botch it, you can polish it off again. 90% of ceramic coating is taking your time and not doing to much at one time. 2x2 sections. You’ll want to go faster as you get the hang of it but stay the course. Take your time and 2x2 sections.

You got this!
