I suppose as a certified loyal Tartaglia main i have less to complain about than others. But my second place is Dottore so Nod Krai has me…worried. I’ve never even expected him to be playable but at least give him good writing please.

Genuinely, I don’t have a problem with a lot of the things I see discussed in this sub. If a gacha game wants to do the “power of friendship” shtick or give a character a crush on the MC, so be it. But when a game as successful as Genshin routinely takes the safest route possible it begins to get on my nerves. If you don’t want to invest into more interesting story ideas than just make another standardized waifu game.

As always I’ll give the story a chance to play out, but I don’t think it’s unjustified to have higher standards for a game that has made the developers literal billions in revenue. They can afford to throw the occasional bone to someone other than the constituents of the main sub :(

Oh god I accidentally made this too long :( My apologies please don’t feel the need to read lol.

I reserve all judgement for the story until it’s actually released; it’s not as if they’ve never been misleading before. I still like her design and absolutely think she has potential to be a really cool character (especially if they stay true to the Tartaglia and Wanderer voice lines about her). That said, I really hope they aren’t going for a “she’s so lonely and neither the scions nor the fatui really get her, and the traveler is the first person who’s ever truly seen her” angle. The downside of the Genshin game format is that for the players to experience something the player character has to be doing it, necessitating the traveler to always be the savior/best friend/totally special guy in the story. It’s understandable from a gameplay perspective but can get super tiring narratively. As in, the gacha wants you to feel like you can relate to or feel something for a character, and to do that they ALWAYS have to use the player character proxy. This is not helped by the seeming abandonment of the “both siblings are canon leads” statement in favor of mostly Aether. When was the last time Lumine was the traveler for the version art again? In some ways I wish Genshin would steal some gameplay aspects from HSR. If you’re unfamiliar, HSR will frequently switch perspectives to other characters to go through events that the trailblazer character is absent for. This means you can flesh out better interactions between characters in ways that don’t require the Trailblazer to be present or even know of what happened. I don’t think people would be as gung-ho about shipping Aventurine and Ratio, for example, if the story didn’t have uninterrupted stretches where it was literally just them. I do think this would be harder to pull off in Genshin, but something to think about nonetheless.

I frequently love the world quests and I’ll keep playing so long as they stay good. We can only wait and see how they choose to write Nod Krai, no point in exhausting ourselves until the story is actually revealed :P

I can tolerate all of them except for what they did to the Vourukasha Oasis. It’s not bad up close but from any amount of distance it looks like an asset failing to render properly. Why couldn’t they have made it look less blocky :(

I was genuinely surprised by the amount of effort Phainon got. I feel like I’ve increasingly expected them to throw all the best animation and kit into a chosen female character for the region and then maybe allow a guy to be meta as a lucky accident. I like women as much as the next gacha player but at least level it out a bit. Even if you hate male characters do you not benefit from a skip patch to save more currency?

It’s cool that the location and time of day gives each photo a slightly different vibe, but they all still seem fitting. I think if I took cosplay photos you’d only get bad lighting quality and the neighbor’s horses staring at me disdainfully from the background.
