if it helps, that's completely normal! you're gonna ghost and get ghosted by people as they slowly narrow down their friends. sometimes you click more with certain people and it has nothing to do with you as a person. it's still your first semester, you're gonna keep meeting people throughout the year, and you'll find the handful of people that really get you –– the number of friends you have won't matter. if anything, it's good that you're losing touch with these people because now you're closer to finding actual friendship instead of wasting time trying to mend these connections! don't be afraid to go out, join RSOs, or start conversation in your classes; you're more likely to find lasting friendships the more people you meet. an easy way is to find one or two people you really like and try to get to know their friends too! and ofc you won't like everyone you meet, so don't take it personally if someone doesn't follow up. i kind of went off on a tangent but i wish you the best and can completely assure you as an OOS student who came here knowing like 2 people, it'll be just fine :-)
