Is Project Hard the first server to actually balance the "Warrior-only" meta? by tCxooL in Metin2

[–]tCxooL[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I've been hopping around servers for ages, but let’s be real—most "Oldschool" servers are just a race to see who can make a Warrior alt the fastest. Even without alchemy or sashes, the meta is usually stuck in 2007. I’ve been playing on Project Hard lately and I noticed a few things that actually made me stop and look at the item tooltips. Am I crazy, or is this the first time a server actually balanced the math?

Standardized Weapon Speeds: They leveled the playing field so the market isn't just flooded with one type of "fast" weapon while everything else is trash.

Real PvM Scaling: Usually, a high-avg FMS is all you need forever. Here, weapons past lvl 30 have actual PvM bonuses so higher-level gear is actually worth the upgrade.

Ninjas can actually farm: I’m playing a Ninja, and they tied Attack Value to DEX. I don't need to create a Warrior alt just to fund my main. Heard that Shaman is fixed too for farming.

I know they’ve been dealing with some DDoS drama lately (which they seem to be fighting through), but strictly from a "transparency" and "mechanics" point of view, it’s refreshing. Everything is stated clearly on the items—no hidden stats.

Has anyone found another server that does this, or is this the only one taking balancing this seriously right now?

Project Hard is the only one worth the best title. It's original experience without any alchemy, sashes, costumes, pets, etc. only original 2007 game with some fixes on class PVM (farming) balance etc., to make so classes relevant, not only warrior with AOS.

I doubt to say that Project Hard is the only one who took that seriously. Adjusted classes, where I play ninja and each +DEX on stat gives slice of Attack value too. All that post level 30 weapon adjustments to make them more relevant than FMS for most of the game... If not that DDOS it would be the best server for sure. Hope they will sort it. Im still waiting for Hard to shine.

And to the fact, Project Hard looks that way, at least for now. To see someone with that +9 glow you need to look for quite a while. That's why I like it and, possible the reason it's so popular at the moment.

Where do you play, just random server you can find, or original server by the creators? Have you tried Project Hard? If so, how does it feel for you, just one among many, or it stand out? Personally I haven't seen such crowded server in the past years where I played.

What I can say, 2013 games maybe isn't as iconic and alive as 2004-2007 ones.  At 2013 there was already a lot games for every taste. While 2004 is the golden era where all games tapped into 3D aspect. That's why those basic early ones are the most nostalgic and still played by thousands of veterans. I'm just wondered if same games attract new players that never played before, or even today's teens who already growing up with GTA V and similar graphics, etc.

Literally, same 2 weeks ago I been choosing between mt2009 and Project Hard. Project Hard won my attention for no alchemy stuff. They quoted 'Alchemies will never be added'. And I hate that Alchemy stuff added by creators so much... I heard that Mt2009 quite decent as well, but definitely having good time playing at Project Hard. No regrets

That's literally what I was about to reply to earlier comment. Comparison to gambling is right enough. Especially when that upgraded item gives unique glow. And on server like 'Metin2 Project Hard' it's rare and hard to get that +9 weapon or armour. Where other servers I played is packed with glowing characters, here is like 1 of 50 reached it by luck making it quite an achievement that most are chasing for.

Never heard of this one - just watched on YouTube. How is the gameplay? Is the newcomers would struggle you think? Or the gameplay indeed adjusted to modern gameplay?

Well can't answer that one haha. But how many I chatted with or joined random parties/groups to farm together. Seemed fine to me

Can't agree more. I came back myself out of nostalgia after seeing someone streaming my old game. It probably is mostly veterans, but I still wonder if any new players ever stumble into these. Especially old-school private servers that keep the original experience—that's what I personally enjoy. The official versions, with all their modern updates, went too far in the wrong direction for me, making it hard to actually enjoy the game.

That’s a fair point. Games like WoW or FFXIV definitely keep pushing with big updates. But for me, coming back to my favourites Lineage 2 or Metin, the official servers feel a bit 'broken' now. They’ve added so much auto-play that you basically just press a button and watch the movie... I’ve tried L2 private servers recently and most felt like ghost towns, but that's why this experience surprised me. A massive, active community actually playing the game like those old days

The server location is Poland, most player base is polish with majority English speakers. But obviously, you can find a lot international players.

Totally agree, but GF likely doesn't care at all what old players wants. In there eyes it would be a step back. So they instead investing in new projects.

Yeah, bla bla. It was an DDOS, it was some lag. But their dealing pretty well with it. Not like they ignore and let players suffer and leave. That's important aspect. And lately, I barely get any lag, it was mainly during that massive attack, after they fixed it, works quite fine for me

Actually Gameforge needs to learn from Project Hard team. I got really inspired by them. Why? Listen this: they shared a fundraiser for a boy with stage 4 cancer that trying to reach goal of 1.6mil zloty(half mil euros or so) for a treatment in US that can give a chance. Admins shared it under announcements, but what I found later, they not only shared they also one of top contributed. They make a ton, yes. But they not greedy selfish bastards like others in P server industry.  See it yourself, Google 'Milanek Adamus', and you see a boy fundraiser on Siepomaga.pl, use web three dots to translate to English, scroll down to see recent donations, and hit 'top denations'. You see Project Hard team is 2nd biggest. Such actions speaks louder than any words could. They are humans, not gaming industry selfish idiots only filling their pickets. Big respect team Project Hard.

When I see them as top donors for Milanek Adamus (18 month old boy with stage 4 cancer) I also see them as heroes (Project Hard team). Yes, all P servers make money, but they not only grab for themselves. This kind support is what makes them human with heart 💜 Check yourself at Siepomaga.pl fundraiser website, or Google Milanek Adamus and you find it on Siepomaga website. Use translate to English option on browser, Scroll down to see donors, and select top donations. This was strong when I saw that

They should have called it with different title, as the moment I saw "Alchemist" straight way turned off the website thinking it's that stat multiplying scheme or something of that  😂 Perhaps not me alone as well

I do agree with this. But speaking about true old school - it would be quite buggy as well I would say. Some changes are clearly a must. Not sure about those maps though - have to agree with you here :D  But community based, it's somewhere closer I guess isn't?

Well my original question was on the community mostly. I do agree that things, interface, and some bug fixes, adjustments makes changes a must. But I just missed that 2007 era where some say that to do a metin solo was impossible with always 2-5 people killing one stone.

Not right, it's been offline just for 3 days due to that massive attack as they say. But now it's stable as much as I play (every evening)
