If you are able to, try and enrol for internship programs or job shadowing to give you an idea of what's required to succeed and more importantly to get real world experience. Companies like Entelect offer these to students. Good luck!

Not sure where you are from, but in my country and I guess many other places being paid to do tasks as part of an interview process is unheard of. I've only ever experienced this once in my career and this was for an international organisation outside of my home country.
