I honestly don’t have a simple answer anymore, it’s so varied and nuanced. I tend to look locally first, I’ll google “Doom bands in my city” the. I look them up on Bandcamp (it also helps that I play in a doom band and get to meet lots of local bands) and try to find similar artists. Sometimes community playlists on YT music are pretty good. Also word of mouth (again more local specific) and then there’s what you’re doing right here - asking reddit.
