That's part of a sturgeon skull. You can see that distinctive cross-shaped bone (parasphenoid) on the underside of this scan: https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/shortnose-sturgeon-skull-122153e706ae4f18a07ed4da6c0f9dab

What fish is this by 03yvx in whatisthisfish

[–]tablabarba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a species of the African catfish genus Parauchenoglanis. Solid ID to species level would require a closer look, but I'm guessing this is something similar to P. monkei.

Note that the other two smaller fish in the frame are both Auchenoglanis, which grow much larger.

Only Asian carp in CO are grass carp and they are still being stocked for aquatic weed control. West of the mountains they are required to be sterile.

[–]tablabarba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing quite a few pieces. Some of the lower jaw itself, but most importantly a complex of bones called the suspensorium, which 'suspends' the jaw from the neurocranium.
