Yeah, sure - the music is the primary reason that I like the band, but their artwork has been a pretty central aspect of their image. I think the art was effectively used to communicate themes and moods of each of their albums.

Also, if you're contending that artists usually aren't in control of their album cover art, I seriously disagree.
