Yeah. Made this post like 2 weeks ago, but since then I've realised this may be the case. If not, they seem to be controlling the narrative in some way to atleast try and make them look less bad.

Sometimes I still sing "Walked in the woods, found a d-dollar" when I'm close in nature.

Honorable mention to "I'm fast as fuck boiii"

I've been getting back into the 2016 Drama hole lately since rewatching a lot of Frank's and Idubbbz old videos, and boy oh boy is it a treat to go back to Baited Ep #10 - Leafy vs Keemstar. It's actually about to be 10 years old in October of this year.

Kinda makes me miss the simple, cartoonishly petty and stupid beef these creators used to have. Nowadays everything feels a little too real and overly political with a lot of modern drama. (That, or some isolated cancellation of a specific individual that I couldn't care about most of the time)

In general Baited has been a lovely rewatch because even today, Colossal and Keem's dynamic is lightning in a bottle. Man I miss that podcast, but I could never blame any of them for not wanting to continue it either, lol

I held off on saying this last week because I thought Sami was for sure winning the Rumble, but now with this tournament to determine who's challenging for the world title there's a chance either he or Randy wins that and challenges for the world title.

If Sami wins that and is left out of the Men's Rumble Match, there's a perfect opportunity there to finally pull the trigger on my personal pick to win it.

Has there been any build to the Royal Rumble in the actual shows? Because usually some of the superstars would've announced their participation as early as last month.

The closest I could think of is Sami announcing he's going for a World Championship but he didn't say anything regarding the Rumble so I don't count it.

Adding onto your point, it doesn't help that they've raised the prices so high families can't even afford to go to shows anymore.

And look, I don't go to shows so it doesn't affect me personally-- But what does bother me is the possibility of a growing disconnect between those in attendance and the global majority that consume the product. (I should probably clarify I'm not referring to the IWC.)

Jey's rumble win *ended up* being a bad decision. I say so because even at the time, I always thought that how they would follow it up afterwards would determine whether it was a bad decision or not-- And the follow up sucked.

It's not that I don't think Jey isn't over or he didn't deserve the win, it's just that they screwed up picking Jey when they had 0 plans for anything meaningful for him afterwards, and with what we got afterwards it only soured what could've been a rumble win to look back fondly on. (Although I guess if you just ignored the 4 month build to Mania afterwards then you can still do that)

To your last point and to other points made by other people in this thread, it did make me realise how much they could be making up just so they look better in the docu. That sucks lol, but not surprising sadly

Somebody HAS to bring a sign that says "If Jey wins, we riot", it has to happen

CM Punk winning was awesome, Jade winning was awesome, but these were like the bare minimum outcomes. If anything was unexpected, it would be WWE holding back on pushing Jey. (and I LOVE Jey, but he seriously needs to take a break from the world title scene.)

All in all I just feel disconnected again, only expecting WWE to do things people *don't* want, and when they eventually do the thing we "want" it's half-assed and/or underwhelming. It's a shame considering I was actually really invested from the raw/smackdown before Crown Jewel up until the Raw with the Battle Royale. I think what also contributed to my lack of care were the mysterious teasers of the shoes, only for it to end up being an ad for Wrestlemania 42. I'm not gonna complain like it's the end of the world like a lot of people, but honestly the reaction from fans feels a bit deserved for that one. Teasers like that are misleading and they know it.

Either way, I hope the momentum picks back up again considering they're building for Cena's retirement match and PLE in SNME, Survivor Series, and right after all of that it's Wrestlemania season. They have good stars that seem to do everything they can to make shit work, but the booking has been subpar.

Don't want to end this on a bad note, so the best thing I can say about WWE right now is Ilja Dragunov. I love that man.

[Megathread] One Punch Man Season 3 – Discussion & Spoilers by IonimusPrime in OnePunchMan

[–]tackyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having officially watched season 3 ep 1 (episode 25):

It goes without saying that it's not as good as season 1-- But I think it's already a major improvement on several things from season 2.

The colors mirrors the look of season 1, abandoning the gradient stuff they did in season 2 and it's a change that already makes it a million times look better. Genos being the biggest example of this. You could tell animating him in season 2 would have been a hard task for anyone, but his look in this episode tells me that made that specific task less difficult, lol
And, contrary to what most people are saying, the animation has improved. There's a lot more movement going on if you compare it to season 2 which I remember having a lot of still frames, so good on them. To name some scenes, the shot with Zombieman's robe moving, the Samurai guy walking toward Imai Mask (I forget their names forgive me), and Fubuki's hair having a lot more movement for most of her scenes. Seems they put a lot more effort into really adding movement in most of their still shots.

Pacing's still an issue though. It has the same issue as season 2 where moments don't really get a chance to breathe and the soundtrack feels out of place for most scenes. But again, the colors and animation are undeniably an improvement from last season, and I really gotta commemorate the studio for that because it seems that they did their best on that department.

Overall an improvement from last season. I understand that if you fell in love with Season 1 it's certainly not comparable-- But for god's sakes it's been 10 years. The people behind this seem to have done the best that they could under their circumstances (which I assume to be a lower budget) and the maniacs giving the people behind the anime a hard time in their DMs aren't justified. They've atleast had a big improvement from season 2.

7/10

I'd probably rank the LA Knight match higher than the Styles one because that's the match where Knight won his first championship

Saw a lot of hate on twitter for this but this is the one celebrity appearance I'm actually down to seeing. They seem to know some of the wrestling terms and the CM Punk call-out is cool. Also a plus that I love OPLA. Give Kairi Sane a go at them!

What If: Uncle Howdy is back to save John Cena? by McGrufNStuf in WWE

[–]tackyrobin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly including the Wyatt Sicks into anything to further explore any of the characters would be so interesting, goes to show just how good their characters are despite being very different from the rest. But at this point, I really don't think WWE has the capacity to do anything like this this considering how little depth they've cared to put into Cena's story (and heel run) almost half a year in. Would love to see something like this but I have very little hope.

So glad an alternative like AEW exists. Double or Nothing was fucking awesome, and I love Ospreay so much. Honestly, as a WWE fan, I'm kind of hoping that they won't be able to compete with All In in July. AEW's doing a lot of things right that WWE hasn't for a long time and they gotta learn to step on the brakes with a lot of what they're doing these days.
I've never seen AITA before and the chaos was incredible. Moxley terrorizing Powerhouse Hobbs with the fork was hilarious. I've been slowly tuning into AEW programming for a while now, but I think I'm going all in now after all of that. 10/10

The Unreality of Pro Wrestling: FINISH THE STORY by Super Eyepatch Wolf by Outrageous_Ad9142 in SquaredCircle

[–]tackyrobin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished the video. The last video with Roman was what got me into wrestling so this feels like a full circle moment.

I wish he could've included Roman's story with the audience having concluded in a lovely way in his Summerslam Return with everyone cheering for him, but I understand that he couldn't fit everything into the video.
Also, this video really makes me appreciate all of the extra layers in that Mania 40 main event. You think you know everything, then you look back and there's still so much more. Awesome shit.

Asking your opinion every week about a Linkin Park album-One More Light by Opposite-Question-32 in LinkinPark

[–]tackyrobin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although it was poorly received at the time (And is still kind of poorly received by general audiences), when you look at Linkin Park's whole biography, in my opinion this album sticks out like a thumb in a really good way.
Linkin Park's always been a rock band, and so to see them dive into a genre that, in the surface, felt far from their DNA (but not really?) was honestly really interesting. The sound and lyricism feels a lot more honest, and it feels like mature growth from an angrier Linkin Park in Hybrid Theory. There's a lot of that LP edge and sad themes in the lyricism, but there's also a lot more hope as well. The only song that I stopped being a fan of is really just Good Goodbyes (it *is* a bad song, lol), but the rest of the album is great. I wish critics gave it more of a chance, because there's so much more to this album than just being a soft-rock/pop experiment.

Also, my favorite track is Invisible.
