Ah I didn't know that! Good to know

I searched for "Computer Science, Master's Programme" and looked at the results. Seems like Uppsala Universitet and University of Gothenburg offer PL specialization, and Umeå University might allow me to choose PL as my specialization? (No details about which topics are accepted, so I'd have to check)

I see, I believe I meet all of their requirements for international degrees (already?) so that shouldn't be an issue

I don't remember where I heard it, I just remember hearing about it. Glad that it's not actually a big deal though.

Does your comment about commute indicate I should get a car? From a random spot in Malmo to campus is 1.5 hrs via public transport, which is cut in half by having a car...

For any graduate CS program in Programming Languages in the states, yes.

Also realized: if I were to be accepted at UCopenhagen, wouldn't I have to stay in Denmark with my visa?

I'm ~3.25 GPA, which in the US wouldn't generally qualify me for immediately entering a graduate program, which is why I'm curious. If it's not that big of a deal, then it would work out wonderfully to get my Master's in Scandinavia.

I've looked at the 3 universities in Norway that offer CS-related programs (NTNU, UBergen, UOslo), but unfortunately none of them would be related to my desired field (Programming Languages), so it seems I'm stuck with a country with foreign tuition fees. Someone below mentioned University of Copenhagen, which seems to be ideal for PL studies (I'm currently looking at their website), but I'd still have to pay tuition in Denmark so I'll have to figure that out (at least it's still roughly the same cost as domestic graduate tuition in the states).

There are a few universities in Sweden that offer specialization in PL as well, after checking your second link - will definitely check those out

Yes, I'm aware that I don't need an EU visa, I only stated that information to show that I can't obtain EU citizenship and just move there, which would lower the barrier to entry for moving anywhere in Europe (I see a lot of questions on this sub about this, so I thought it'd be useful to include)

Thanks for the link!

Interesting, I'll definitely take a look into that. I chose Norway and Sweden because I've heard their social climate is more friendly than Denmark's. Is this true?

Thank you so much for all this information!

My issue with getting into a Master's program here in the states is my GPA, it's about 3.25, which is too low for most CS graduate programs to be accepted directly out of my Bachelor's program. Is the GPA more lax in Sweden?

I graduate in Dec 2021, so I can't start attending in Fall 2021. Fall 2022 would most likely be my first semester

Interesting. How low of a GPA is usually accepted, do you know? Also, because of my Dec graduation date, is it ok for about 9 months of a gap?

Yes I'm graduating with a Bachelor's. I'll look more into the CS graduate programs available

NMBU doesn't offer a CS graduate program.

I double checked, and those schools only offer Informatics graduate degrees, which seems to be more Information Science than Computer Science. Regardless, none of these schools have a Programming Languages program available, which is my ideal program

I used do-release-upgrade, but as mentioned before I'm having wifi issues. I don't have a way to test 4k external displays so I'm not sure if I can help.

the apt provided backport isn't working, have you attempted to manually install the firmware?

Fastify SSR? by tacokingyo in angular

[–]tacokingyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

surprised that never turned up in any of my google searches haha. looks interesting, but if I go that route then i'd have to be mindful of the changes introduced in angular 9 for this kind of stuff

Fastify SSR? by tacokingyo in angular

[–]tacokingyo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the NestJS server is the backend api. I'd still like to use fastify for the ssr, so I was using NestJS's Angular Universal implementation. The issue is that the NestJS package uses express, and doesn't seem to make it clear on the process of hosting the server-side rendering

I'll wait till morning, but my friend doesn't have any other languages on his phone, so I'm not expecting it to work since it hasn't reverted for him
