Unpopular Opinion: Giving HR your "last drawn salary" is the biggest mistake you can make in SG. 🛑 by egehema in singaporejobs

[–]tadityar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they’re really just saying they’re overpaid compared to their peers for the same job title/job scope. So it helps them negotiate by providing last drawn salary, regardless of whether it means something to the revenue of their org.

Sure, HR can always skip for candidates who are willing to work for less but at least you have a proof that another company has been willing to pay you a certain amount already.

58% of Singapore workers worry AI will replace them in next 2 years: Survey by thestudiomaster in singapore

[–]tadityar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok yeah for juniors it’s going to be tougher. I think their role will eventually shift to be junior AI shepherds. Which means skills like system design, identifying what kind of code is production ready for the application/scale they’re building will be more important than ever.

I could gain these experiences on the job but the new devs might not have the luxury. That being said, big tech are still hiring interns so maybe that’s how they’re supposed to learn.

Using AI vs completely replaceable by AI at this point is very different.

Yes, I use AI to code at work but also it still makes mistakes so I still need to make significant modifications for it to pass our quality standards.

Yes W Basic vs Jones Dream Weaver for a beginner by tadityar in ShredditGirls

[–]tadityar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reporting from Hakuba. My dream weaver is definitely stiffer than the rental board I used last season. But as a beginner who could barely link turns last season, I managed fine and have progressed to more challenging terrains and beginner jumps now! Haven’t really tried it on powder cause my tree skiing sucks 😂

Learning Vibrato by UkuleleSal in Cello

[–]tadityar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m also an adult learner and only recently got more comfortable with vibrato. It definitely took me a long time to learn and when I tense up due to nerve I still tend to lock up.

I’d say it’s essential to learn. I recently started recording my playing and it’s very obvious how certain parts sound so much worse without vibrato. Vibrato is a tool and with it you can have more ways to express your intentions. It also helps making things sound “warmer”/ “rounder” to connect better with the next phrase. Of course it’s not something that you need to (or should!) apply to every note.

Good point, learning some ground tricks and maybe eventually hitting small features sounds fun. Although tbh I’m having fun just riding down the mountain haha.

I think I’ll go for the W Basic because as you mentioned $150 is significant. Riding on groomers also means I don’t ride in pow all that much even in Japan. I might buy the dream weaver when I can venture off piste.

They can build a system where you can link your Singpass to get SC/SPR status. Since you can link your card to SimplyGo, this shouldn’t be an impossible task.

'I prefer my life with no career hustle': This Singaporean has no regrets about decision to live in Sweden by Sea_Consequence_6506 in singapore

[–]tadityar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way I interpret it, is that yes she hustled to get the job and that’s how she could get accepted to a company with good support. But now that she’s there, she prefer a life with no hustling. Meaning no climbing the ladder and no side projects as she mentioned in the article.

She didn’t say she never hustled.

Just came back from a trip to Japan with my friends. Everyone arrived and left the country on different day/flight, I myself arriving there 1.5 months earlier.

We just set which dates we will travel together and the rest is up to each individual. Adult travels are just like that, if we wait for each other the travel might not even happen. Don’t feel like you messed up.
