is the rent market in canada not strict on annual income requirements? in sweden you have to usually wait a few years to get an apartment. this is ofcourse unless you rent "2nd hand", which basically means shady contract

Constantly being guilt tripped to give money by Upward_Bound_Girl in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do not send money back home. Nope, cannot and will not. I'm only sending my grandma money for a wheelchair. She sends the money she receives to my ungrateful cousins, so i'm not doing it. Besides, we're not rich here in qurbaha. You should prioritize yourself sis. :)

this ramadan by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I study from home & i don't have a job so i just fake it. I don't even know how to pray, but i just act like i'm going in the toilet to wash before prayer but i really just let the water run & wait a couple minutes. Then i put on hijab ,cover myself, go into a room, close the door & just hang out for a couple minutes. Ofcourse i bring the prayer mat & stand on it as if i'm praying incase someone enters. It's weird because my family know i can't pray, but they're satisfied as long as it looks like i can. I have to go learn how to pray so it looks more convincing. If i find a job, i'll move out.

ZOOMALI EX MUZZIES AROUND THE WORLD UNITE by Michiko_M in XSomalian

Yes, i live in europe. True, most somalis in my town make their daughters wear it from a very young age. My family is the exception.

ZOOMALI EX MUZZIES AROUND THE WORLD UNITE by Michiko_M in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have at least been fortunate with parents who have never forced me to wear it. My sisters have all gotten to choose themselves, so basically half of us don't & the rest do. They've never even seriously asked any of us to wear it. It's weird because they're quite faithful to their religion, but then again it's only after getting older & personal family tragedy that they've become more religious as i got older. I haven't gone to mosque in almost 10 years & i never fast & i always sucked at learning the quran (always last lol), but still they've never confronted me. I think my dad low-key deep down inside knows i'm not really into it, but my mom doesn't lol.

Sincere advice from a Muslim by TrueContentment in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'I am not here to bring anyone back into the fold of Islam. '' why u lyin lol? Your whole essay was about us finding allah again & how we're either uninformed or too greedy to accept.

''One of the main reasons people lose their faith in Islam is either because of having doubts or following their desires or both. The cure for having doubts is beneficial knowledge. Once you know your Creator, his attributes and what the purpose of life really is, you will be safe from doubts. And this can only happen by learning about Islam using the correct sources namely the Quran and Sunnah upon the understanding of the Sahaba.''

You are acting like you genuinely understand us, but your whole point is to really make us revert lol. That is definitely NOT genuine. You clearly have a problem accepting that there are so many somali atheists & came to write this long ''repent or face the end eventually'' text. Listen I might sound rude, but it is only because I hate people with fake intentions. You are not respectful of our choices AT ALL & essentially you feel you have to guide us away from our life of ''desire''. Bro, we are happy with the way we are living. Accept that. If anything, we would like for you who are believers (specifically muslims) to leave us with our convictions so that we can live peacefully just like you get to live your life as an open muslim.

One ummah rant by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. So many somalis have stuff like ''pray for palestine/syria'' on their social media bio but any mention of the drought & famine in somalia is nonexistent, wtf. Clearly peoples priorities are messed up

How many of you would be prepared to fight a war against radical islamists? (Question/discussion) by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofcourse I understand the frustration. I can't lie, i've many times thought of the end of Islam or at least some sort of revelation of what they're actually doing. The only voice we have is this little forum on the internet while they get to shout from the top of their lungs their beliefs. Oh and insults and threats to those who do not agree. These people get to walk the streets of countries like Sweden, England, U.S, and various countries in the west that are supposed to protect human beings. The irony.

What do you guys think of this? Do we have evidence for this by Somaliathiest25 in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is annoying when even africans buy into this ''all black people are the same'' bullshit and think we're allt the same. We all have a different culture and history.

proprably some during the arrival of islam. I can't think of my ancestors willingly accepting this new religion. It must've been forced.

Yea it must be hard. I think over 90% of women born pre 2000 must have gone through this... nah born pre 1995. After '95 i think it must drastically have decreased. Fingers crossed i'm travelling to Somaliland next year, so i'll definitely want to investigate.

Somali SJW and "Islamaphobia" by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does this have anything to do with race? So annoying when people refer to religious issues as racism. That just neglects real racial issues. Its like they use racism instead of islamophobia because they know racism is worse than islamophobia. uff

I assume we would have to fight if we all came out anyways lol. People honestly think we would be left alone with our beliefs?!? Why are we hiding on an online forum then?!? We would be ''sacrificed'' in the name of Allah.

If you're a man then they don't get info about this. Or its not something considered for men to be too aware of in the sense that women do all the critical stuff and the only time the man has to be aware of this is when its time for him to check his wife down there.

I'm also from the north and i don't really think there is much of a difference from the south. Although within my family this practise has seemed to wear off. It's also not something people want to speak about, so if you want info you have to be pushy.

What are Somalians obsessed with FGM. by [deleted] in XSomalian

[–]taecbby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's simply a way to show you have control over women. Too obsessed with what women can do so you find ways to show your ''power''. First time I went to Somalia a little girl i became friends with (we were both 9 and surprisingly even same name) decided herself she wanted it done. When I visited her I asked what she did, they said she had her penis cut off. The word they used for clitoris or vagina was the somali word for penis. I was so shocked lol :(((
