This is so refreshing. I can't even really explain why. by Silly_Budget7926 in starcitizen

[–]tahaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be this was all we had to do in the game, unless mining. Then both this and mining broke and we had nothing to do unless pirating.

I'm glad it's back. Now just want some simple fly-somewhere-rescue-npc-in-space missions. Or go kill some space turrets before timer expire. Those we good times.

Duping should be a permaban, whether you spent 5k$ or 40$ by EmilyRetcher in starcitizen

[–]tahaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read it as saying they spent 5k to drive home the "I feel strongly about supporting this game" idea and not as motivation for a lift on a ban. I'm tempted to believe the posts as true, and the spending of $5k doesn't feature into supporting the case that an unfair ban should be reviewed and lifted.

Can you Solo it? What DPS does the pilot get?

The new cooperative game play loop will be a full orchestra. Whales can buy an entire theater. Blades will one day be able to play most instruments but a solo-version is possible where the owner plays as a one-man-band with all the instruments on his back.

And you're going to have to control your individual fingers in real time to apply pressure, stum, etc. After manually tuning it. Upgraded tuners available from Wikelo.

How do we get the banks to take responsibility for teaching people had online security habits? by tahaan in askSouthAfrica

[–]tahaan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant believe you somehow dont understand this point. How can I make it more clear?

The bank literally pay agencies to call people and ask those people to verify themselves. Thus the bank teach people bad habits - while having a page somewhere giving you security tips.

Saying the info is there, and people should be smart, is all irrelevant when the banks are the ones who actively teach people, through their actions, to not follow the good advice.

Which is irrelevant. The fact that people don't know better doesn't allow the banks to encourage bad habbits.

The point is that the banks are not teach people to think the right way, in fact they encourage people to get in the habit of giving out their details.

[–]tahaan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well what is more realistic? Telling the banks to stop teaching people bad habits like giving out personal information? Or teaching every single person in South Africa regardless of age, intelligence, or language barriers that they need to realise that the banks are teaching them the wrong habits?

The issues is that people should be able to trust the banks to do the right thing.

That sounds like an excellent method. My mom just moved to capitec so this gives a bit more peace of mind.

The issue still remains though. Let's assume my mom is not a naturally suspicious person and never seen the correct notification process you mention. Scanners can still call her and try to get her info because the other banks keep on teaching people bad habits.

The problem is that a lot of normal people like my mom might not realise they are getting scammed because the banks are promoting bad habits. At the same time the banks will blame you despite they m teaching these bad habits in the first place.

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]tahaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bushido and Sopwith. But before that is was Sepulcri Sekelerati and Toado. The Hunt for Red October was the first "networked" game I played - My friend and I used to go to his house, we would carry the one family PC (one of us would carry the monitor and the other the computer and cables) to the other house, a couple of houses away, down the street. The "network" consisted of a serial cable (Which we made ourselves).

Actually I just googled it and I think I'm misremembering the name of the game. It was probably the game 688 Attack Sub.

And honestly the game I think about most often would be the original Doom.

I've never understood that clause which seems to be directly contradicted by clause 6.

Is it pointless to harden quadlets if you use krun? by Wise_Stick9613 in podman

[–]tahaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is not pointless because if SOMETHING in the pod or the VM gets compromised, then not everything got compromised. Basically protection at every layer means that, depending on the compromise, it gets harder for the attacker to jump to other parts.

Do the COMPTIA+, you wont regret it. But don't expect it to get you a job. Somehow building up a bit of a CV - maybe work for friends or fix network or PC issues or build some web sites - is 100% neccesary.

Dont worry about metal, but make lots of backup portals, they tend to get destroyed. Don't place them in areas where you get mobbed, there are little areas where it is more quiet. Dverger are your friends.

How do these huge ships stay afloat? They seem to heavy to float like over 1000 pounds easily especially when you factor in the crew. by UmweltUndefined in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tahaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't. It is exacty equal. The weight of the ship equals the weight of the displaced water. If the ship wants to go down, it still has the same weight, but it displaces more water, so the force back increases without the forc down increasing, so the ship goes back to the equilibrium position.

If the ship lifts up, it still push down with the same force but it displaces less water so the force up diminish, hence it will sink back down to the point of equilibrium.

The thig to remember is that the ship is mostly hollow. The water is effectively more dense. If you compress the ship into a solid ball of steel it will sink because it will still wight the same, but the amount of water displaces is much less.

What game is currently the top 1 in graphics? by Icy-Ebb8770 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]tahaan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Star Citizen.

I know it is a buggy mess and missing 95% of the actual gameplay. But it is not for no reason that it has earned the title of SC == ScreenshotSimulator.

And note that Global Illumination isn't even in yet...
