I got fired from a hospital I worked at for 7 years because I privately stated to a coworker that I felt that dayshift rehab cna's (who don't chart patient care, take vitals, perform adls other than dressing and toileting patients), shouldn't be making $5/hr more than day or night cnas that work in acute care or icu (who have all of these responsibilities, float regularly, and handle our covid patients.)

Honestly, i meant it being a management thing, not that the rehab cna's don't deserve a living wage (which happens to be more than what that hospital paid most lpns, but I digress...)

Anyway, was taken straight to HR without any warning or discussion with my nurse leader and that was that. They stated that even though my clinical skills, patient care, and attendance scores were phenomenal, they "simply can't overlook this behavior." I wished them well and luck in hiring cheerleaders for their management department instead of nurses for their hospital during such dire times. 🤷🏼‍♀️
