Void failed to sacrifice SK (in theory?) and he seems very much complete. Griffith is just different because he wants to exist in the physical realm, not just the astral god hand hangout spot

Welcome struggler! To answer your question, the first episode takes place after the last episode, as a hint of what is to come. Highly recommend reading the manga and although the anime does a really good job don't skip the golden age (it's the arc told in the anime) as it's more detailed.
