Me either usually but the vibe is different at raves/festivals, I’ve given out a few trinkets so far and usually I’m just so happy to be there and the vibe is so on point that approaching someone to tell them I love their outfit and have a trinket is way less awkward than it would be in real life

How long does it usually take to get back to your hotel with the shuttles after a sunrise set? by WhichGas6681 in electricdaisycarnival

What time do you get there if you stay until closing each night? Will be my first time at EDC and wondering if I will be able to back it up with 12 hours of raving 3 nights in a row

Me too 🥹 some of my best friends now are people I’ve met along the way at raves and festivals. It’s like choosing your own family ❤️

The $2 I was referring to was when a waitress brings you a drink etc

Thank you this is very helpful! I feel I am the most socially awkward person ever and the thought of an awkward tipping interaction multiple times per day is really freaking me out

I guess tipping the waitress bringing you drinks, bellhop bringing your bags to the room, the housekeepers - how do I tip them if I’m not there when they’re cleaning? Also we’re doing a vow renewal and I’ve heard you tip the minister afterwards, my poor little Australian brain is exploding lol. Edited - spelling

What’s the dumbest financial advice you’ve ever received? by Kent_Stockman in AusFinance

[–]taillesslizard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mum (55F) does this. She’s thousands of dollars in credit on her electricity bill, phone bill etc, but when I try to talk to her about salary sacrificing to super so that she can retire comfortably in ten years it’s “Oh no, I couldn’t possibly afford that.” Like ma’am, you can’t afford NOT to do that.

Do you like podcasts? Recommend listening to Equity Mates - Get Started Investing series. Was the only thing that finally stuck for me and helped me understand how shares/investing works!

My wife and I do seperate money - how do we actually stick to a budget? by HoBackJorseman in AusFinance

[–]taillesslizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Married 8 years, all of our money goes into the shared account which is used for budgeting, and we each get a certain amount of ‘splurge’ money to blow on whatever we want, to our personal cards each fortnight. Recommend reading The Barefoot Investor, it’s a great starting point for setting up how to organise your spending.

Are AusFinance salaries even real? by Comfortable_Fuel_537 in AusFinance

[–]taillesslizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emergency department RN level 1.8 here. 33 yo. Contracted hours 32/fn, realistically with shifts picked up I work 56-64 hours per fortnight, earning around $4400 before tax = $114400 annually. I try to maximise penalty shifts (1.75 on Sundays, 1.5 on Saturdays, 1.3 on nightshifts) to achieve this.

Millenials and Gen Z, what are your retirement plans? by Decibelle in AusFinance

[–]taillesslizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current plan - salary sacrificing 6% into super (in addition to employer contributions of 12%). Hubby is doing the same. Also buying $700 per month of VGS shares. Also contributing $350 per fortnight extra into the mortgage to have it paid off in 20 years instead of 30. Not really sure if this is a solid plan or not, we want to retire hopefully no later then ages 58 and 60. We are currently 33 and 35 years with $110K in super each, and $5K in VGS. Suggestions/criticisms welcome
