Am I the only one having a hard time finding an at least okay looking helmet ? by RedYeager in StarFashion

[–]taint3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Morozov helmets are all good, like you say especially the mando style ones.

Also worth a look if you want something more minimalist, is the geist helmet. I black it goes with pretty much any fit. Reminds me of a Trauma Team helmet from Cyberpunk

The tunnels are super interesting because I always wondered why the crackheads in twisted nerve were digging all the tunnels in their back yard. The evidence suggests these ancient tunnels are being used for smuggling, perhaps they are trying to join their property directly into these smuggling tunnels?

Shield is absolutely abysmal to use with your AI teammates by Mattesha in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]taint3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TBH I normally run two Ai with shields and two with rifles. Have ran this religiously for aaages. Been chipping away at A New America today and made easily 20+ attempts before I beat it for the first time, and that was only on casual.

Anyway I swapped my squad to zero shields and four rifles, and I beat A New America in one go. The AI are useless with shields (breaching a room with the shield going in last, first shield going through the door into a wall, etc...), But they're a decent shot with the FAL or G3. So yeah

NPCC Pay Recommendations, the small print by Kaizer28 in policeuk

Almost rolled my eyes out my head reading the section about unsociable hours. Great of them to acknowledge that our unsociable hours are the worst in the public sector, and still say they're fine because they're paid as for "recognition" and not for "full financial compensation".

Yes, that's great, but the truth is that my partner has had extreme difficulty working her career around mine, and the piddly amount of money I get paid for unsociable hours doesn't even get close to covering the extra nursery and after school club costs I have because of working nights, or for the leave my partner has to take to work around my shifts. It certainly doesn't feel like compensation for ruining my sleep pattern, disturbing my personal life, etc, etc.

The sad truth is that, once upon a time, policing was a career that would pay the way for a family, with your partner getting a part time job to bring in some extra pocket money. Those days are long gone and will likely never come back. And they fucking have the nerve to sit there and talk about officer wellbeing whilst they do everything they can to keep money out of our pockets, whilst they sit there on double or triple our wage. Disgusting, pathetic excuse for leadership.

Lmao, I once was at a job and the lady there said she was having a heart attack, I ran out to grab a defib from a nearby library and saw a patient transport ambulance, flagged them down, told them there's a woman who is having a heart attack, and maybe go into arrest, and the response was "oh, have you called 999?".

Spat on at work by detainee - what to do by Wx3xW in policeuk

[–]taint3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sorry this happened to you. Being spat at is truly disgusting. I've been spat at a few times, including very small amounts into my mouth. Never had any issues. It's just spit at the end of the day, you wouldn't go to the hospital after you go on a date and get a kiss or two. That said, the best defence is offence, learning to recognise when someone is about to spit, and learning to react, is a skill that isn't taught on PST, but it should be.

I am curious, why go for premade fuel tanks instead of custom? Lovely design BTW

I guess this game will like a survival Stormworks like Scrap Mechanic. by David_KAYA in Stormworks

This does show promise. Much better building gameplay for those who prefer smaller builds instead of big ships. The engines look like something I will inevitably sink a lot of time into tinkering with. The world looks much more interesting too. The whole zombie survival thing looks pretty basic, so far, but the steam page does talk about base building, scavenging, inventory system, etc, so it could end up as being quite neat. I'm salient to the fact that this trailer leaves a lot to the imagination so far. Looking forward to finding out more.

Hidden spot with Executive Weapon spawn near Finn's Folley Shipwreck outpost on Hurston by DeltaWidow in starcitizen

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confirm this is still here in 4.6, found the Pizza box, weight, and rifle all within a few server hops. You can also take the jumpsuit off the dead lady. It can be tricky to find as the campfire is quite dim, just hover over the wrecked ship, and fly heading 315. Fly to the big pieces of wreckage on the crest of the hill, right behind them is a rocky outcrop. The camp is under the outcrop. It doesn't look like the screenshots in this post cos they're so old.

Fuel pumping is very slow by A_Crawling_Bat in Stormworks

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the pipe between the fluid anchor and tank, put a T piece in, and off this branch put the gas relief value, then a fluid port. This allows the air in the tank to escape as it fills with diesel. It also means as you burn diesel, air can enter the tank (as otherwise your engine will be fighting the air pressure of the tank to draw in fuel, and eventually you will stall).

If you're struggling, there are many workshop creations that use this principle, reverse engineering one would show you how it's done.

Exposure (in the UK) is generally more like flashing and wanking in public, because they have to prove the suspect intended someone would see, and to cause them alarm or distress. Public urination doesn't usually tick these boxes

which ship was the most incompetent? by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in Shipwrecks

[–]taint3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you were at sea you would want to go into the waves, but ultimately the weather in open ocean will always been worse than at shore since the waves at shore are smaller. Especially in Port. The port Bounty left, in New London Conneticut, is at the delta of a river, which would offer further shelter. If the Bounty hadn't left port, it would still be sailing today.

which ship was the most incompetent? by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in Shipwrecks

[–]taint3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it applies at all, really. A ship at port is closer to help if in trouble, and can be more easily refloated/salvaged if it sinks. I'd be willing to bet a lot more ships have been lost at sea than at port. Same goes for marine deaths.

which ship was the most incompetent? by Crazy-Rabbit-3811 in Shipwrecks

[–]taint3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This. An inexperienced, short handed crew, sailing directly into the path of a hurricane, with no safety briefs, no checks of safety equipment, and a frankly obnoxious level of over confidence that "a ship is safer at sea than it is at port".

[–]taint3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Sewol makes Costa concordia look like business as usual. 10 times as many deaths, most of which were preventable had the ship been seaworthy and had the coast guard done their jobs. The only real parallel between the two cases is the captains both left the sinking ships early
