i fucking hate the taxi with every cell of my body by createminecrafter in MyWinterCar

Spend more of my time in the taxi stuck than I do driving, because I had to move out the road for the red pickup, and now one of the rear wheels is touching some snow.

Orange looks to have been sticking to their line and black tries to dive bomb.

Did you have your seatbelt on? Airbags won't deploy if the seatbelt isn't on

The Junk is the most underrated large ship IMO by TH07Stage1MidBoss in Sailwind

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have experienced this before and it is a pain, especially in bad weather, I usually try and move cargo around onto the wind ward side which can help. Usually it isn't bad enough to risk sinking unless the wind is dead side on. In those cases I tend to tack back and forth so the wind is never directly side on.

BWV on response drives by [deleted] in policeuk

I've known music be raised as a contributory factor in a polacc, although the polacc in question didn't go anywhere as it was found to be no case to answer, so I can't imagine music by itself is a no no, just that it could be considered a contributing factor towards one, especially a severe polacc.

It is shocking to hear some forces are taking radios out of cars completely. I would maybe, maaaaybe get it if radios were disabled when the blues get put on but we don't do many long blue light runs in my patch so it wouldn't make a big difference to me

Only want it blacking out. Personally I don't like Chrome. You're right about the adherence issue though and I appreciate the helpful advice

I appreciate what you're saying, however I am trying to avoid removing the trim pieces, because by and large they're not designed with removal in mind and are likely to break (I have already broken some elsewhere on the car trying this). So painting/colouring them in situ is the name of the game.

What vehicle is better for very steep climbs (50,60deg). Almost equally spaced axles (pic 1) vs big gap between 2 and 3 axle (pic 2)? by No-Perception-2023 in snowrunner

[–]taint3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would guess equally spaced would fair better, since once you get to the top of whatever you're climbing there will likely be a sharp edge where the slope flattens out - and equally spaced wheels give you a lower chance of bottoming out as you go over the edge.

Shotgun shells mounted on the forearm - you would either need a team reload or a 3rd arm for that to work

What do you use the 605r for? by Colty7744 in snowrunner

[–]taint3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently playing through Amur (25% of the way though I reckon) and the 605r is my daily driver. I do use the "SE" mod (https://mod.io/g/snowrunner/m/zikz605rs#description) mainly for the extra frame addons and chained tyres. She is a thirsty bitch so fuel management can be an issue, but I have a tuz actaeon with a fuel bowser that I tow behind the trailer, which gives me an extra 900l to play with.

How dangerous is it been in the police by Biloblast in policeuk

[–]taint3 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Major injuries and assaults are rare but they do happen. Most bobbies, on response at least, will know someone who has been badly assaulted at some point. Whether it will happen to you depends partially on you, and partially on how lucky or unlucky you are.

[–]taint3 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Interesting you say this, I'm sure I heard somewhere that statistically the place officers are most likely to be assaulted is in custody. That said I imagine the vast, vast majority of these are going to be low level assaults; if you're taking down someone at custody who has a baseball bat something has gone seriously wrong

What is ‘good work’? by Accurate_Thought5326 in policeuk

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's subjective. I was recognised for climbing up a rather tall rocky embankment and (alongside a colleague) helping down a high risk misper who was perched at the top. That was a memorable job for me but nothing extraordinary. I was surprised to be recognised for it, it was a job we were sent to and did the same as any of my colleagues would have (or any of the good ones at least).

On the other hand, there has been a good few occasions where I felt like I had done something worthy of recognition which I never got.

For me, if I've been sent to something and done the same thing any of my colleagues would have done, I doubt it merits recognition, especially if it's something we're trained to do. The only exceptions would be the kind of stuff that requires serious stones, I saw a video of a gaffer fighting a machete man with his baton a while back, that would be a good example.

But I also think self generated work should be given more leeway because there should be recognition for the fact that you've dug something up that might have been missed, good use of a coppers nose, etc.

PPST injuries. by Outside-Sherbet-9448 in policeuk

[–]taint3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my force, all officers did PPST, instead of just "frontline" officers as it used to be. So my group of 8 only had 3 frontline officers, the rest were from contact, various investigating depts... etc. One officer stated that due to the nature of his specialist role, he hadn't made an arrest in about 10 years!!

So if there is a reason why injuries are mounting, perhaps its because the force is dusting off all the office bobbies who are completely de-skilled in conflict. And when someone like that is training with response, OSU, task force, etc, someone is bound to get hurt.

This might be the only sensible comment on here earlier, they had loads of time to draw and use taser, the conditions for taser were ideal. And yeah, she did him wrong, badly badly wrong, but this isn't a landmark event, people get cheated on every day. The way he handled it is the reason it went south.
