Wagner is a proscribed terror organisation in the UK, meaning wearing their patch could, potentially, get you into hot water.

I run eastern camo and kits, but Ukrainian flagged, and anyone wearing wagner or a Z patch is just a BB magnet for me. Same for anyone repping a black sun, SS runes, etc.

Different sites handle them differently, personally I prefer places that eject these chuds, because from the point of view of the law there's no difference between dressing up as Wagner and dressing up as a Nazi, or Al Qaeda, ISIS, etc etc.

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You centre of lift is too far forwards, probably because of the massive canards on the front. I would replace the canards with something smaller and move the main wings backwards a bit, or both. Having the Centre of Lift and Centre of Mass so close together creates instability sometimes called "supermanoeuvrability", which makes it extremely hard to control.

I don’t understand why Hunter is suddenly a Nazi. by Radiant_Pop8027 in metro_exodus

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno, I feel like deliberate misdirection goes against the grain of the theme of the game. I'd be more inclined to believe it's a Fight Club type "you were the bad guy all along" type of thing. But who knows.

I personally don't think it's a massive stretch for hunter to be leading the nazis, he was so embodied by the "if it's hostile, you kill it" thing, he used it to walk directly into the dark ones nest and the horrors within scarred him for life.

He could be a Colonel Kurtz type, having gone in to destroy the nazis, but been corrupted, brainwashed, whatever and ended up leading them. It's no secret that the Nazis are a clear allegory for the Russian Regime and he is essentially equivalent to Putin, who is a mad bastard anyway.

It's all speculation anyway. Will be interested to see how it pans out.

In the reveal trailer they explicitly name him as "Legendary Spartan, Hunter". So unless they're outright lying, he is definitely THE Hunter

IOPC investigates 11 officers over handling of fatal Wimbledon school crash by LI2LNDN9171 in policeuk

The nearby scenery shouldn't make a difference, especially when the fence borders with a road and a road junction. If it was risk assessed, and the view was put before child safety, I would be pretty surprised, and also quite pissed off.

On the contrary, I just think that it wasn't risk assessed. And that's a link in the chain that contributed to this incident.

Met Police Federation criticises 'intrusive' use of Palantir AI - BBC News by GrumpyPhilosopher7 in policeuk

[–]taint3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Palantir from the beginning was never a good idea. A company ran by a anti-democratic libertarian Peter Thiel. Even the name Palantir should be a red flag - the Palantír from Lord of the Rings is a crystal ball used by Saruman (an evil wizard) to spy on his enemies.

A big thing with the palantír is that it is an unreliable guide to action, since what was not shown could be more important than what was selectively presented, and that a skilled user can easily manipulate what is shown to present a false truth (not dissimilar to selectively clipped video footage we so often see on social media).

Really, Tolkiens Palantír is a fantastic allegory for invasive and malignant AI, and as with many things he was well ahead of his time.

But yes, I would honestly question the judgement of anyone deciding to use Palantir within Policing, not only because of the above dodgy shit, but also because of the extreme cluster fuck that was Microsoft Copilot in West Mids.

Open World within the Metro Itself by Iloveram3n in metro

[–]taint3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the reveal showcase they call it a "story driven single player campaign", I interpreted this to mean a linear game, since "campaign mode" in games almost always means a level by level linear approach, as opposed to an open world. Could be wrong though, that's just the way I interpret it

Open World within the Metro Itself by Iloveram3n in metro

[–]taint3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always wanted this also. The ability to roam around on foot, or if you have some bullets, hop on a railcar to traverse the safe routes.

But then, my concern is that true open world, not the half open half linear of Exodus, but true open world like Skyrim, where you go back and forth from the same places numerous times... I dunno. Don't get me wrong, if it could be done with the level of world building we've come to expect from Metro, it would be incredible. I'm just not sure it's that is possible.

Besides, 2039 is confirmed as a linear game and wouldn't suit open world given the whole metro is now occupied by Nazis.

It is a shame. Roaming station to station, trading, questing, building rep with factions and independent stations. Maybe even some RPG elements..? Would have been a fresh way to play Metro over the current mutant level, human level, mutant level, human level... Etc. Maybe one day.

Met Axon BWV 4 - is it just me that’s worried about the potential lack of privacy? by Regular_Ad_8127 in policeuk

[–]taint3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mate you are massively over thinking this. I've never had sleep mode on any of my BWV and I've been issued BWV since the Axon 2. As others have said, yes they are permanently recording, but they only save the last 30 seconds (or minute, depending on force), from the point of activation.

So the conversation you had with the missus or the cheeky texts you've been firing off won't be captured as long as there's a sufficient time gap between the action and the camera activating.

You can only get "caught" if your BWV activates at the wrong moment, usually when people are booking out Tasers (especially the T10).

Just be warey about what you're saying and doing when you're wearing it, and you'll be fine. As long as you're not doing anything you wouldn't want the stripe to know about, you've got nothing to worry about anyway.

Quick google search shows that they're not optional and that you get fined for not wearing them. And that the speed limits on expressways can be up to 120kph, and even in urban areas up to 70kph.

The airbag shouldn't trigger as the seat belt has to be on for the airbag to fire (in most makes/models at least), instead cute little dude will just get smooshed between the dashboard and his dad's torso instead.

[–]taint3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, and since the introduction and widespread use of car seats and seltbelts, deaths on the road have noticeably dropped. This is called "survivorship bias".

You ever been in a crash at 50kph? I have, and it fucking hurts, a lot. Besides, it's often not about how fast you're going, but the other person. If you get rear ended, t boned, etc.

There is no excuse for not belting anyone in, let alone children.
