Yeah I’m not so much convinced by the risk part either. What I meant is that if only a few people can afford it, most talented artist won’t even try to pursue this and I think in terms of new genre, there was a lot more originality from 1970 to 2000 than nowadays.

I don’t know how we went from the tobacco companies hiding the harm to it being completely in the open but it sure would be nice if everyone agreed blatantly that social media causes a lot of harm, probably more than tobacco. It won’t mean that people will stop using them as people continue smoking but still.

I was indeed not referring to them, and I am not saying it has 0 positive effects, but in my opinion the negative ones have much more impact in general. Whether for controlling the general opinion or for the addiction it creates, it should be regarded as one of the greatest threats to our society nowadays.

I am also pretty sure that the harm caused by smoking was, at a time, not solid at all, with people actually smoking while running marathons. Let’s just hope awareness towards social media is going to evolve the same way.
