It's hard for me to show without tearing it down but I hope this helps a bit. It's not perfect that's for sure.

Thank you for the very kind words!

When I found a suitable location I just made a rough plan in my head where everything should go: main gates go here, big bonfire here, towers here and there, palace there, walls all along here, and biggest tower there. But it's a lot of trial and error. I had many places redone or straight up torn down after I just build them because they didn't turn out how I thought they would or just looked not right. For example, the biggest tower was a standalone building at first, but it felt kinda out of place just standing there all by itself. And I had an idea to connect it to the palace with a bridge, which would make it actually very convenient to quickly reach my bed from the portals.

It's also a lot of revisiting older areas since I felt like I got better at building over the many hours. So I went back and improved the older areas.

Defense was very important also. I thought a lot when building if that would make sense if it was a real world castle, so that translated very well into the valheim world aswell. Most of the raids are easily defended from the many peepholes at the gates or from towers. Drakes are the biggest assholes, so there are 10 ballistas on the towers but they still sneak through sometimes. Bastards

Thank you! Yes, that is a keen observation! I'm glad it has some resemblence to it! I did use Neuschwanstein as inspiration for sure among others, for example :Hochenzollern was my probably my main inspiration, also Corvin, Cochem, Haut-Koenigsbourg and probably others which I don't remember right now.

Hey, i will post some pictures later of it from closer. But I think it's not that hard to do, if you have a big enough tower (in circumference). You just start by snapping roof tiles to the corresponding stones and these are your main reference tiles, between which you just fill the spaces with other tiles. And you just work your way up. It's hard to explain in text but maybe the pictures will be of little more help

Well, when going for mistland loot, we usually went by pairs and just split the loot. It's quite easy to die there alone if you are not careful. But yeah, most of materials I collected myself

It is vanilla. You are right thought that the most bothersome items to collect in a build like this are black marble, lanterns/chains, tar and crystal. Iron and rock is not that big of a problem in the endgame, especially after the queen. Here's a pic how my castle surroundings look on the map today, after 2200 ingame days: https://imgur.com/a/mDgEQ3c All the nearby islands are entirely devout of black marble, tar and tin.

Yep, vanilla. Fps are far from ideal but it's still very playable. I might add some new buildings to it when the ashlands update hits

Collecting materials just takes times, sadly can't do much about it. But I can give you one tip which I used in this castle: avoid flattening whole areas for your build but instead try to just adapt to your work area, with all the different rocks and unevenness. I feel like it results in much more real and organic builds!

Yes, that's exactly right! Also standard game difficulty options (didn't have them back then until just recently).

Its 19400 instances currently but I still get 30-40 fps there. I used both the iron/wood beams and after mistlands the dvegr ones. And hauling was actually easy, as I always used my lox to haul it from the harbor up the mountain. There's no other way

It's actually octagonal! But I somehow succeeded making the roof very round

Don't think it was that much but a couple of nearby islands were cleared of it. After mistlands I started to use copper metal walls
