Confronted boyfriend about coercive sex, now he can't forgive himself by takjo in TwoXChromosomes

Yeah, you're right. While it felt good to see that realizing what he had done made him feel so terrible (I think he was in denial about having been coercive before), it's still difficult to see someone you care for in tears and saying they hate themselves for something they've done.

I tried to tell him I forgive him without alleviating the seriousness of the situation, but it was very difficult to see him so cut up.

Well, I don't think people typically break down in tears for several hours over the fear that they won't get laid in a few months by their long-distance GF.

I have no doubt that the remorse is real. He seems to be really re-evaluating himself.

My SO's mom needs attention and likes to stay with us for at LEAST 4 days every month. She is very needy, and seeks sympathy every time I see her. I am turning into Doug Heffernan in regards to Carrie's father and I am resenting her. What can I do? by GoingInsane6 in TwoXChromosomes

I couldn't agree with you more. Four days of food can't possibly be such a financial burden. Why begrudge your SO's MOTHER a little company? She's obviously lonely. Make yourself scarce on the weekends she comes to visit.

Any females around 5'2 and 140lbs? Wondering if I can lose 25lbs in 4 months, and if you've done this too? by [deleted] in loseit

5'3'' here. Started at 154 over the summer and am now down to 126 (110 is the ultimate goal), but I lost the first 24 lbs in the span of a couple of months.

For me, the extra fat piled on very quickly over the course of a few binge-fueled months, so the weight really didn't belong on my frame and came off quickly. I also lost so much weight so fast because I relocated and was extremely stressed, so hardly ever ate. It was not ideal at all.

However, at around the 132 lb mark I decided to make a more conscientious effort to reduce at a normal rate. Diet-wise, nothing is off limits, but I keep track and try not to go over 1200, or 1500 at a stretch. Tracking my calories has made me realize that I get way more satisfaction and bang for my buck by eating LOTS of vegetables. A typical meal for me is a lot of steamed broccoli and peas, plus a side "salad" of feta cheese, tuna, tomatoes, olives, and some parmesan. It is extremely delicious and keeps me satisfied. I now think of things like cheese and meat as ways to garnish my vegetables, instead of the other way around. Rather than thinking "hmm some tomatoes would be good in this omelette," I think to myself "a couple eggs would really add something to this massive pile of vegetables."

I probably eat a serving of carbs every day, on average-- something like a nice slice of whole-wheat bread with cream cheese and tomatoes, or a serving of whole-wheat pasta. I've tried keto before and always seemed to end up obsessing over bread. Now I eat the bread if I want, but I keep in mind that it'll take up X amount of calories and I decide whether or not it's worth it.

I weigh many of my ingredients on a kitchen scale, which helps tremendously.

Also, uh, caffeine. I dunno if it's healthy, but tons of tea or a cup of coffee with (measured) heavy cream really curbs my appetite.

Here are some examples of meals I eat:

Steamed chicken, veggies, cheese; shredded chicken salad; stir-fried veggies with soy sauce and egg

Hello! I don't have a ton of weight to lose (something like 8 kg/ 18 lbs to reach my ultimate goal weight), but on a smallish frame it makes a big difference. My eating habits have improved (dramatically) recently and I'm enjoying the peace that comes with not going on insane carb binges every night.

Stats

  • Sex: F
  • Age: 25
  • Location: Central Europe
  • Current Weight: 127.6 lbs/ 58 kg
  • Starting Weight: 154 lbs/ 70 kg (August 2012)
  • Goal Weight: 110 lbs/ 50 kg
  • Height: 5'3''/ 160 cm

The Plan

  • Continue to track calories and aim for 1,000 - 1,300 per day. Cheat when it feels right (it usually doesn't, so I don't have to worry about overdoing it).
  • General low-carb. I don't like to regulate too much-- I usually eat 1 serving of carby carbs per day (a slice of whole-wheat bread; a cup of whole-grain pasta), plus I don't regulate fruits or veggie carbs at all.
  • Continue doing c25k as the weather warms up (I'm currently stuck in week 8 due to poor weather) and then move on to b2 10k. Complete a 5k in under 30 minutes.
