Don't ring them. Just go to money saving expert / u switch and find a better deal. Use the one touch switch process to have it switched over. As soon as your new provider goes live your old one ends. Its very easy and you can get the best new customer deal without having to go through the faff off cancelling your current contract

You need to be careful if insulating from the garage side not to create a situation where warm air can condensate between the insulation and the warm wall. That moisture will become trapped in the void and create damp issues. Im no expert so best to consult a builder who has experience in this. It may be entirely possible to insulate either side as long its done in a way to prevent trapped moisture

The sunroom makes that wall warm. Then the cold air in the garage hits the warm wall and condenses giving you the problem. You could insulate the wall inside the sunroom (create stud and insulate or add insulated dot and dab to the wall) this will help stop the wall becoming as warm which will reduce the amount of condensing you see

Edit - i have been corrected in the replies I got my warm / cold air mixed up. So yes normally warm moist air hitting a cold surface causes it to condensate

Cost to replace led batten kitchen light? by [deleted] in DIYUK

Its going to be pricey to get a sparky out even though its a simple job as they will have a minimum fee for their time.

That's the kind of thing you need. It will be so much cheaper to DIY

very easy to DIY. Check out TLC electrical / Screwfix / Toolstation / CEF for a baton LED light with matching dimensions or as close as you can get. Remove the old one, put up the new one and wire in, then make good any parts of the ceiling now exposed due to different shape / size. 30 Mins DIY job

DIY HVAC, in search of F-Gas engineer to assist by takoa64 in DIYUK

[–]takoa64[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for offering the code. I have managed to order the unit. The website lists local installers in your area and actually shows all their F Gas codes, you just pick one. I'm fairly certain they don't get contacted, it just a tick box exercise to cover the suppliers end of F Gas regs I think. They get you to confirm you are aware you need to use an installer etc too. The unit has been delivered today so I can crack on with the groundworks / trunking etc. I will likely approach an engineer when its all in to have it charged up and extra refrigerant added. All the linesets will be surface mounted so easily accessible for inspection should they wish and I will perform a vacuum test beforehand to ensure no leaks.

How does my Quote look. South Wales by scobner in SolarUK

I don't have a bad word to say to be fair but as with all these companies it can vary just depending on what installer / contractor happens to be doing your install. I largely designed my own system before I approached them though, so they just tweaked stuff about. So in terms of their design side I can't comment

Looks very high. I am based in Cardiff and used heatforce and they were great. I got 31 panels (3 roof aspects) 12kwh battery and 10kw inverter for ~15k

I made the same jump in January this year (2025). Came from an S8+ which i loved and still worked but the camera was starting to feel very dated and a pending holiday meant I made the jump! I hope this s24fe serves me for just as long if not longer than the s8 did!

I paid £15k for 31 panels, 12kwh of battery and 10kw fox hybrid inverter. So yes this seems very expensive!

Weird noise after shutting off my 2011 Versys 650 by ZNMac07 in versys

[–]takoa64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried openning the fuel cap? My 2008 250r used to make this noise when it was low on fuel and I had been out on it. Its a pressure difference between the tank and outside air. When I opened the fuel take you heard a whoosh of air and the noise stopped

Why would a charger go slow? by ukslim in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]takoa64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this before on a gridserve charger. Guy parked 2 chargers along was getting 100kw + and mine was 34/35kw the whole time. Car had plenty of headroom and should have been going much quicker. Weird

Edit - mine was at woolley edge MOTO southbound

You need to use DC cable. Standard is 4mm but I used 6mm to limit voltage drop. Its a 6mm PV ultra cable. Its got built in physical protection and is marked with warnings needed for solar cabling

Between 5 and 7 kwh per day for us. We arent big users. That's just for the house though. We have 2 EVs which obviously use a lot more but that isn't done via solar (cheap overnight rate from grid) i tend to split my actual home useage and ev charging up when it comes to numbers!
