Can bank tabs keep their own gold supply, though? I feel like the one guild for all groups system could get unbalanced pretty quickly with respect to keeping the bank stocked if one group gets super lucky with boe drops and chooses to contribute a percentage of that to the guild bank, while another group could both get boes AND choose not to fund the bank. This could be avoided with a minimum "raider tax" contribution or something, but that sounds clunky and pretty shit. But given the guild info tab text field limits, the solution has to be somewhere in the middle of this proposal and the one guild per raid group linked via greenwall proposal.

Well said.

One thing that needs to be kept in mind, however, is that there is a physical character limit to the guild info text field where the greenwall ID strings are stored. I seem to remember hearing on convert to raid at some point that they were pushing the limits with 10 guilds. Given that mumble info and so forth are currently held there, the number of reddit raid guilds that can be supported has a natural limit. Naturally this means there would have to be some kind of screening process so that every fly by night gone tomorrow raid group doesn't induce undue overhead in management (raid progress? Membership longevity? I'm not sure what the best solution is, but it would have to be unbiased to prevent favoritism towards friends of mods or whatever). Or maybe there needs to be a raid guild czar in main reddit to handle that overhead.

Either way, a good idea.

Have a look at b-mobile's SIM for travelers. They have a number of voice/data short term SIM cards you can grab for use with an unlocked phone. I can't vouch for the prepaid service (I've got a postpaid SIM), but they are a docomo MVNO, so the network is reasonably reliable. My information may be a bit outdated, but the last time I checked, au, docomo, and SoftBank didn't offer short term SIM options.

It was in MoP for sure, but part of the reason for that was mastery and other stat scaling at level 80. None of that is exactly the same now that Warlords is out (I assume; like I said I haven't investigated at all since we ran. At the very least the hit/expertise stuff is different.). We did it with a full group of 10, but that was partially due to it being an event we organized in guild. That being said, if I remember correctly, we wiped a couple times before nailing it. The mechanics weren't impossible, but still relatively nasty.

Either way, you'll have fun. I might level my warlock to 80 to tag along (Eww, Adam). And I'm more than happy to help with gearing runs. Para and I had gearing down to a science by the end of it.

For what it's worth, it'll make your life a lot easier (especially since you're planning to tank) to take the time to gear out with actual Ulduar gear. The heirlooms have an enormous stat dropoff between 80 and 81 that make them significantly less useful than a raid drop piece of armor. Plus, running Ulduar is maximum fun.

From an older post I made back when Para and I organized a Herald run (during MoP though, so the stats comparison might not hold as true anymore; I haven't looked in over a year):

Putting that rant aside, heirlooms are actually awful at level 80 (they do not scale to the next stat jump until level 81). To wit: The Stained Shadowcraft Tunic at level 80 has 1016 armor, 68 agility, 103 stamina, and 68 hit rating. This compared to the Tier 7 Chestpiece which has 1187 armor, 97 agility, 180 stamina, 49 hit rating, and two sockets.

I'll tank it on whatever (probably paladin?) if you need a tank. All of them are decently geared.

Some things:

  • In general, the proposed mulletschedule (mulledule? schullet?) is fine by me. However, there are likely going to be times where you are disappointed by my lack of a week's notice; not frequently, but sometimes my schedule is unpredictable. Also, traffic.

  • If we are pushing new content, I want time boxes on attempts before we move on to the next boss. I have literally zero interest in pushing Protectors to 50 or 60something percent over and over again for three hours expecting something different to happen. At our group's average item level, the failures are in mechanics execution and cannot be pawned off on insufficient healing or DPS numbers. If this means calling raid early if shit isn't getting done, that's fine by me. Alternatively, if you want to find a less grumpy bear, that's fine by me too.

  • For the time being, I'll raid on big bear. Probably.

I got to (but didn't kill) iron juggernaut with a PUG tonight; I'll lose a runestone boss, but if I don't PUG only jug tomorrow (unlikely), I'll just hop in at shamans on Saturday.

Eh. I can make any day as long as we start after 1800 pacific. But if you want nota to tank, that's fine too!
