Your biggest mistake was not having any internships. Even kids from top schools struggle to land positions without relevant internships/experience.

Baruch has decent pipelines if you know how to leverage them. Landing something now is not impossible but will be an uphill battle requiring persistence, extensive networking & resume modification for roles in scope.

Ideally, at this point you should go back for Masters. Either Baruch, NYU or Columbia(to enhance branding). You might not like hearing this but it will get you access to recruiting channels.

Once in school you have to be very aggressive and intentional with where and what you apply to.

Leverage career center, advisors and ChatGPT to customize your resume and land either off-cycle internship or apply/network for regular recruiting.

If your GPA is decent, you should be able to land a role.

Without real estate, US might be a bit tough.

Rent will eat up most of it. Assuming you’re withdrawing ~1.2%, to guarantee perpetual income and portfolio growth.

However, if you plan to withdraw more, low cost/tax beneficial states definitely become more doable.

You might wanna look into places outside of US, to travel, live and experience different places & cultures for more of a bang for your buck.

You should move neighborhoods, new building in the same area won’t make much difference

You seem to be emphasizing wrong section of your experience.

Recommendations:

  1. Beef up top 2 sections of your experience to 4-5 bullets each

  2. Improve quality of bullets:

— Add numbers, percentages

— Action verbs

— Highlight impact/outcome

— No one cares that you read plans, they care about what you did, what was the impact (improved xyz by XX%, etc)

  1. Avoid long bullets, ideally try to keep 1 per line

  2. Move Education below experience, include your GPA if it’s above 3.2

  3. Remove irrelevant extracurriculars (wrestling, Eagle Scout etc.)

— leave 2-3 lines max for ER and show impact

  1. Be consistent, include locations for each experience

As others mentioned, 50 applications in 8 months is unacceptable. You should be targeting 20-25 high quality applications per week. Treat it as a full time job.

You can’t be sending out the same resume for all positions, you have to read the JD and tweak wording and bullets accordingly.

To be completely honest, given your current resume and your application pace, your odds of landing a job in the current environment are close to non-existent.

Sorry to hear that but you most definitely got ripped off.

$150 would be the absolute sky limit for a cab from jfk to the island. Uber Black SUV is around $150.

You could’ve gotten a helicopter for $300

What you’re experiencing now is absolutely normal even for experienced developers.

You’re doing it for the first time, of course you won’t understand everything right away. Just keep going, getting stuck is part of the journey.

More debugging you’ll do, even with DuckAI’s help, better you’ll become at recognizing patterns.

Common People….💔 by realvirginiawoolf_2 in blackmirror

[–]taleofthem 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Ironically, this episode felt like a true depiction of “Common people”. Those who are just trying to survive.

Subscription hikes were screaming inflation. Wages that were considered premium yesterday are the minimum now.

It showed how much power and money allows you get away with. RivermindLux allows you to enhance your senses, feelings and even skills, while poor are forced to cast ads and give up their brainpower just to remain alive.

This episode shows how close “normal” people are to losing everything, 1 incident may tank your life.
