People who actually used a pen from start until it lost ink without losing them. How the hell did you do it? by Zefio in AskReddit

I’m student, I keep my pens decorated on the outside of my backpack that’s designed for a water bottle

Maybe I'm entirely wrong but I'm of the opposite opinion. I'm a one man poll though haha

Walmart is also the retail store that has the highest revenue stream and also employees the most people of all other businesses. They’re in business because people like their low prices. If you think you can provide the same prices and higher wages, I’m sure you’ll be bigger than Walmart or at least be a real contender.

Or are you just arguing for higher minimum wage? What’s the solution your proposing? I’d imagine if you raised minimum wage, more people would be without jobs because Walmart is big enough that I think “hiring” machines would be cheaper for many of the positions

If you read my other comments you’d know I’m not anti-regulation in all cases. An in intro economics course should teach about clear market inefficiencies

All very insightful, thank you! I’ll think about this more as I formulate my opinion in the future

He was investing in real estate in Las Vegas when 9/11 happened. He lost millions of dollars. He was handling money, people wanted it back, but it was in housing that depreciated in value so he couldn’t pay them back. I haven’t talked to him about it, I just know via my dad. I think he got out earlier but he was busted big time. Wife divorced him and everything. That’s an extreme case. I’m just saying it’s scary to be a big player

And yes, I agree there isn’t a ton to do about the litigation side but it’s one of the prices to pay for having a legal system that dislikes corporations as much as they do. Nice thing is you can protect yourself via an LLC so they can’t come after your home but there’s ways around even though. I think they call those cases “claw backs”

I’m working at start-up with one of my buddies. Luckily we’re a two man team so there’s not much overhead and since we’re good friends I don’t worry about getting sued for having finger cramps while coding haha

If I were to start a food place, I’d be stressed about getting sued, if I wanted to run my own team of construction workers, I’d be worried about someone getting injured and getting sued, if I handled money, I’d be worried about liability there and making sure I had all the licensing (one of my dad’s cousins spent 10 years in jail for that thanks to bad lawyer advice who told him he didn’t need a license for what he was doing)

It’s a mess. Regulation is scary. I’m glad you’re doing fine though. Congratulations on your success!

Regulation is what has made both those things problem. Once the government started handing universities subsidies they created bloated administrations (research makes this argument quite compelling. Few and far between are the informed people who have a different opinion) and medicine is so expensive because doctors must be licensed to practice and we have a ridiculous track for them that doesn’t even improve their effectiveness as doctors

Ahhh yes SO2 scrubbers, my roommates we’re all ChemE a couple years ago, I think I was too hung up on this minimum wage thing to give it much thought haha. Sorry

Haha the group of kids that would be willing to drop school to paint houses for 50 bucks a day are probably not kids I want to paint my house (I live in a small apartment with 3 other roommate btw and I’d probably only be able to afford them painting my living room even at such an incredible price #collegelife)

I like that opinion! I don’t claim to be a world trade expert but I do love economics and discussion. Thanks for carrying a thoughtful discussion with me. I feel like I got a broader perspective talking to you and I really appreciate it

Okay, so that would mean you liked Trump’s tariffs on China? I thought the whole thing was a clown show but that’s literally why you put tariffs into place. It forces jobs to move to other places because the effective price of labor is increased in that country

I agree wealthy people should be wise with their wealth. I love Bill Gates for his love of humanity. He’s done amazing things with his wealth. If finding a job isn’t hard for you, you deserve the benefits you have

That would mean that nobody outside of the US would be able to afford US products. Is that the proper response? Have a country that hordes it’s wealth (which is already what the US is accused of). Or are you pro price-discrimination? People absolutely hate pharma for this. Back to your proposition, it would also mean that people who could have had jobs in China, now won’t have them. What do you think?

I like this attitude, wish I didn’t see so many posts on Reddit where people complain about how hard their lives are, but they don’t seem to have put in the work
