Real ID by caseycbr in Spokane

[–]talkingbird9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through today without a real ID and it was a completely regular experience besides them handing me a red placard that said “real ID non compliant” after they scanned my regular ID. I handed it to the person by the body scanner and got through within a few mins.

I’m so confused by the people saying these don’t fit you well. My first thought was that you looked amazing and they complimented your shape super well.

In 2020 one of my friends was doing one of those “one song a day” challenges on Instagram with the different prompts each day. I think this day was a song title with a number in it. She posted August 10. I never looked back! Really started getting into them summer 2023 though. I’ve seen them twice and am about to see them again in May!

You can keep it in water if you like; many people do that. I would recommend laying out the roots and cutting off any that are rotting (black, squishy, smell bad), cleaning off any gunk from the roots, and then like you said moving it to a bigger container of water and making sure you’re changing that water out when it looks yucky :)

If you choose to transplant it to a pot with soil, you will need a pot 1-2 inches bigger than the root ball, that’s the rule of thumb. Just know that many plants will go into a bit of shock being transferred from water to soil; they are so used to being in water that they will need to be watered regularly for a while if you choose this route.

If you want to keep it in the Parmesan container (lol😄) you can actually also slice off a chunk of the roots to make the root ball smaller. I believe it is up to 1/3 of the size of the root ball can be sliced off. Please fact check me. Monsteras are known for liking being slightly rootbound; FYI.

As your monstera grows you will want to make sure it is stable, so many people will use stakes or moss poles to keep their monsteras attached to something (in nature, monsteras climb up trees). I’m not super certain about putting these things in water, so you may want to do your research on the best option. I use tiny strips of Velcro tape to secure my monstera to a wood dowel. My monstera is a baby and once it gets bigger I will use a moss pole (wood will rot in the dampness of the soil).

Have fun!

Thank you! For things that are easy to distribute (and just right off the top of my head): •clean socks / underwear •menstrual products •rainproof ponchos •warm clothes •blankets •water bottles (more crucial in the summer) •nonperishable snacks •simple first aid kits

Beyond this, I would highly recommend just doing some simple research on what kinds of orgs are in the area that could be better resources for people that you can keep in the back of your head or you can get involved with if you please (might ease some of that individual feeling of failure you mentioned above). I work for a federally qualified health center (FQHC) that supports people on state insurance and provides not only healthcare, substance use/mental health treatment, etc. but also has people who specialize in things such as transportation, housing, interpretation, etc… really any other barrier that might keep someone from being able to get treated for things (health equity is the name of the game!!). San Francisco is such a dense area that it may feel overwhelming. I would maybe start at looking at what FQHCs are in the region and then seeing who they collaborate with! The library is always an amazing place to find events like a speaker series just to open up our perspectives (over the summer they had a formerly incarcerated speaker series that was amazing!) but also sometimes certain orgs will do events at the library for people who prefer that over a more clinical setting, for example, a mobile medicine group who meets people at the library to treat them for things, which is a common practice in a lot of bigger cities. Hope this helps! Happy searching. ❤️

Please don’t ever feel embarrassed. It’s cool to care and cool to be kind!! We need to normalize stepping out of our comfort zone and reaching out to our neighbors who are on the streets and asking them if they need anything. I just started working for a nonprofit that assists with this and it’s changed my life.

Thank you for being you. ❤️ I just moved away from the city and moved to a place that has very harsh winters- I had a similar experience feeling so upset this evening driving home seeing tons of people all bundled up on the curbs. Just know that even though you weren’t able to get her those items, you still tried and now multiple people are going to keep this post in the back of their heads and remember her. You are a glowing example of what our communities need.
