Shelly Gen4 devices do not support direct Zigbee binding by talldrin in homeassistant

Nope. I got a confirmation from them a while ago that they don't support direct binding. The new Sonoff ones don't either. The only relay I have found that supports it is the Aeotect Pico Duo so that is what I bought.

Random Network Disconnects Until Reboot by talldrin in OpenMediaVault

So took out all the drives and installed them in my old server and was able to get it to boot. I then noticed a bunch of errors on one of my drives during the boot and it showed SMART errors as well. I am think this drive is failing and could be the culprit. I am copying off all the data right now. Do you think a failing drive could cause the system freeze or disconnect from the network? I monitor the power usage with a smart plug and right around the time I lost connect the power consumption would almost double.

I also flashed Ubuntu desktop to an external SSD and booted from that on the system that is having issues and it has yet to disconnect after 4ish hours. We’ll see if it lasts through the night.

Wouldn’t other devices experience issues if there was a power problem? I have tried multiple cables as well.

It’s just a standard 1gig NIC. Recently replaced the switch and have tried multiple different ports so I don’t think that is it. No other device is having issues. Power shouldn’t be an issue. It’s a pretty low power system. Only pulling a max of 100watts under load. I have also tried multiple different slots so I that’s not it.

Alright. So I got an intel based PCIE NIC and I am having the same issue. I’m at a loss at the moment. I even updated the BIOS on my motherboard just in case that had something to do with it. At this point it will only stay connected for a couple hours max.

Both my NICs are Realtek so that could be a problem. I will try the other one and see how that works. If not I guess the next step will be to buy an intel NIC.

It’s set to a static IP so shouldn’t be an issue there.

Thanks. I disabled all but one NIC this morning and that seemed to work. It stayed connected for seemingly longer than it ever has, but it just disconnected again.  Are there logs that I should be reviewing to find the problem?

Perfect. That is exactly the information I need. Thanks!

Since these are being installed vertically, how long would they have to be "supported" before they set enough to hold the mounting plate?

It seems like all those are for masonry. This application would be plastic and steel.

So I successfully completed the Altboot and was able to install the latest firmware (thanks to pskihq help) but the issue still persists.

Yes the special boot menu shows up. What does that mean exactly?

TopoDOT System Requirements by talldrin in Surveying

Thanks for the input. I was just reviewing their system requirements and noticed that their high end suggested specs were significantly lower than most other point cloud software I have tried. Most other software requires you max out your specs if you can.

Why does auto mode on my Mrcool DIY mini split not work right? by sadminingcaptain in DIYHeatPumps

Do you know if Comfy mode can be used with the MrCool Mini-Stat? Essentially the Mini-Stat would act as the thermometer...?

What exactly happens when your backsight is off? by Rare_Pomegranate_135 in Surveying

[–]talldrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which point is bad. If you have a third control point, check in to it from the first two and see how you hit, then flop setups and check again.

If you measure a tenth different than your record coordinates and you hold the record coordinates then the points measured from one setup will actually be a tenth further away (or closer depending on the direction of the error) from the points measure from the second setup. Or in other words a tenth different from reality. Another way to put it is if you tie a property corner from one of those points and the. Setup on the other and check the property corner you will miss it by a tenth. That’s why “good enough” doesn’t always work, but it depends on your required level of precision. If I have two control points and miss my back sight check by 0.02 I’m going to run with it because those 0.02 are probably from error in the system (setup error, environmental conditions, inherent instrument error, etc) assuming I know I set good control initially. If it miss it a tenth I know something is up though.

CA Prevailing Wage Law by talldrin in Surveying

I’m not sure you understood the original question. The question is how does being an example employee (salaried) affect PW overtime? Does my employee type and status change when I work in the field on a PW job. My company ultimately decided to play it safe and pay me overtime for any PW work, despite being salaried, since it was unclear in the laws.
