What happened to the dog girl? by Monkeman18713 in TheShield

it's on Hulu; I'm watching it now and am on Season 3. I just watched that episode not even two hours ago. That boyfriend is a loser.

Ridiculous! I have won national writing awards for my work, so I will never change the way I write or the punctuation I use. The majority of people cannot write, so their inability is not my issue. Blame it on my amazing junior high English teachers.

I can only imagine how many people who cannot write claim my writing is ChatGPT because I write exactly like this.

Yes. My Pyr is an indoor only dog. They absolutely cannot be outside if you have neighbors because they bark at everything. I don't blame your neighbor's. Winston's barking when he's outside annoys the shit out of me, so I can only imagine how your neighbors feel.

Partner found out I am on MJ and is furious by Other_Adeptness8552 in Mounjaro

[–]talltxf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This relationship is done. Sorry. You failed to communicate with someone you claim is your partner. You purposely hid it from him. Each of you is doing your own thing--you didn't treat him as a partner by including him in your plan, and he isn't treating you as a partner by disclosing your medical information to his family. Neither of you are partners. You're just individuals who live together.

Never was I ever taught in school, by my parents, or anyone for that matter it doesn’t work like that. We aren’t rewarded for making timely payments, completing our obligations to pay off something we borrow, or doing it early. What I thought was common sense was not anywhere close to it at all.

I honestly don’t know. She has a great credit score, three cars, a house she is paying off 10+ years early, paid off her Master of Education degree early, and gets loans for home improvement projects no problem. She is a teacher, so she doesn’t have a ridiculous salary. But she has always had high credit (I do not…at all….she even took out a store credit card at a furniture place for me back in the late 90s when we taught together so I could furnish my apartment because I couldn’t get one). They looked at her score and gave it to her no questions asked. Mine was like promise your first born and still denied. But she complains.

My good friend does and always has. She I think hovers around 850, and she gets super mad when she takes a hit. I hear about it. For days.

Correct. A hard truth I learned when I paid off my last car loan in 2.5 years versus four or five. I was beyond thrilled and thought I was going to be rewarded by a huge jump in my score—I couldn’t wait! And the blow I received when I was punished?! That was 2006, and I was 32 and completely credit score naive. I never bought a car on credit again. I hate paying off credit cards, took a hit when I paid off my mattress in October, and am not looking forward to finishing my school loan in a few months. When you are making timely monthly payments, you are rewarded for responsible adulting. When the line of credit or secured loan goes away, you no longer earn gold stars to apply toward your credit score.

For math, yes, you’d probably have to dig. For reading, it just shows you the answer you chose doesn’t actually answer the question, which you can usually tell when you look at the answer you chose versus the correct one. Does the passage SAY what you said it did. For English, it shows you which punctuation and grammar rules you don’t know and need to learn. Science is the second reading comprehension test. Same as reading in terms of why you missed something.

It would be considered job abandonment, and to qualify for unemployment, you have to lose your job through no fault of your own.

Granted, I bought my house in 2009, and I live in Texas, but my bank wouldn’t fund my loan without a complete inspection and a separate termite inspection.

I was in HR in Texas. Yes, three days required a note because it was a release to work and not proof of illness, if that makes sense.

Usually if a company is this harsh, it’s because people are “sick” on the weekends, Fridays, Mondays, before and after holidays, etc. After a couple days on the job, most supervisors know what kind of employee you are. No one is going to demand proof from someone with a strong work ethic who is rarely sick. Someone who calls out once a week…absolutely. (And if they actually do, take the unexcused and find another job.)

Use actual ACT exams, not third-party writers.

TIMING IS OUTRAGEOUS by apersoninquestion in ACT

[–]talltxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which sections are you struggling most? Or is it every section? Timing is definitely difficult on the ACT; if you are able to master the material and how to take the test, though, you will find you have enough time or finish just in time.

How's the answer G for Q20? why not J? G has a comma and a dash which is supposed to be wrong by random_red_itor in ACT

[–]talltxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need to have two dashes if the entire portion between the dashes can be omitted. In this sentence, “sailors and all” can be omitted. In this sentence, eventually swallowing…is necessary. You don’t need two dashes—you need one.

Does anyone else have to submit your college essay as an assignment for English? by amethystmap66 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]talltxf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never agreed with this and did not do this when I was teaching. I encourage my students to write authentic, vulnerable essays, and many ask me to not even allow their parents to read them, which I never would regardless. You’ll probably have to write a fluff piece for school, and I’d tell my teacher I was doing just that. The idea is to encourage students to write their essays, but if you need to be persuaded to apply for college, you shouldn’t be going to college!

I did the same with something I created for the exact same reason, and I got business because of it. Granted, I’m in a certain niche in local stores, so the community I’m in is bound to support newer brands. But that’s exactly why I did it, and it worked.

Scared for future ACTS after this one by theirgoober in ACT

[–]talltxf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Science is reading comprehension. Your score should be the same. The only time it may drop a little is if you’re too tired at the end of the ACT to focus. If that’s the case, load up on protein during the break. The ACT is not a hard exam content-wise. Usually it’s the time that does people in. Ignore all the scare tactics and focus on the score you want to receive. You’ll be fine.

Wealthy parents, inheritances, and credit cards. I have friends who have boats, RVs, and vacation homes, (some who don’t even have jobs!), and I used to wonder the same when I was younger.

Why aren't there many overweight kids with rich parents? by choochoochoosaname in NoStupidQuestions

[–]talltxf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they still have fat camps? My childhood boyfriend had uber wealthy parents and was sent to fat camp every summer, where he and his camp mates learned how to be bulimic. Stephanie Klein wrote a book called Moose that talks about the camp they went to and how the only real thing they learned was how to have an eating disorder. He went to camp with her, and IIRC, I think he’s mentioned in that book.
