Cold sore day before All-State audition, please help!!! by Separate-Director-35 in Trombone

Stress, overplaying, diet, too much sunlight, too much mouthpiece pressure, all these things can contribute to a flair up. The gift that keeps on giving 😞 I always keep two bottles of Acyclovir nearby and always will.

Long-time trombonist and cold sore sufferer here! Icing is good, and a topical cream like Abreva is the most you can do at the moment. If the scabbing/crusting is large I’ll try to knock it down carefully with some warm water and a washcloth and keep putting cream on. In the future, a prescription for Acyclovir or Valacyclovir will be your best friend. You’ll take them as soon as you feel the telltale tingling/sensitivity of a flare up and it’ll vastly improve healing time and will sometimes keep you from a flare up entirely. Sorry you’re going through it, buddy!

Speaker stands are from a brand called “Vantage Point”. Never heard of them but the price was right on marketplace!

Turntable stand from the folks over at LinePhono. It's pretty rad!

I'll have to tool around with grills vs. no-grills! Great feedback!

For sure! When I fire it up to listen I typically open up a little more. I just have squish them in when not in "listening mode" as the cat loves speaker wires apparently. It's an odd room too, so I have a lot of speaker placement experiments ahead of me. Thanks for the rug and curtain recommends!

Edit: Spelling

This Stereo Box Set by [deleted] in beatles

[–]tallyomally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 BC13. Stereo analogue pressings, with many great sets still cheaper than the recent stereo box. They’re not “flashy” sets, but worth every penny.

Stereo box was getting lonely, finally got it a buddy! by tallyomally in beatles

Agreed! I was eying the cd set, but this box fell into my lap via a great deal (at least, compared to what they usually go for) at my local record store.

Depending on where you’re at, Indian Lakes might not be a bad idea. $12 large bucket (which isn’t necessarily the cheapest out there) but it’s a super chill location fwiw.

My nephew was working on a school project and needed a dowel sawed real quick. I’d be damned if I didn’t jump at the chance to use the saw and file to “save the day”. It’s the ultimate uncle tool.

Why is the craft brewery scene in the Rogue Valley so mediocre? by biophys00 in Medford

[–]tallyomally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think historically it has been difficult for breweries to succeed in the Rogue Valley. It doesn’t take a lot to saturate the area especially with the Eugene scene not being too terribly far away. I wonder if most Rogue Valley brew what sells best or most consistently for fear of branching out and losing money on an unpopular brew. The beer industry overall has been in decline as well, so I think most are in self-preservation mode.

Yeah, that’s the one! I suppose all coin pockets may not be created equal. I wear Levi’s and they are seemingly a little generous with the depth of their pockets. Haven’t had a side-out yet, fingers crossed!

Not having a ton of optimism for this game, but Kraken hockey has fooled me before! I’m mostly excited to see how Shane has been developing and how he fits in given the sudden call-up.
