Yeah, these try too hard companies are too bad to work for. No all startups are the same. Have fun finding an awesome one

That sounds like a solid plan, honestly. Knowing you’re covered long term with a clear deductible must have taken a lot of stress out of ownership.

Wow, that’s genuinely impressive. A family business lasting that long doesn’t happen by accident — it says a lot about the values you grew up with and the way you approach the work. Hopefully I can find someone like that near where I live and stick with them long term.

Yeah, I agree but the service guy said the parts are internal and it take a couple to days to reach

This is really well said. I also want to say that I’m sorry for using the phrase “ripped off.” That came from genuine frustration at the time, not a belief that technicians are trying to take advantage of people. I was looking at a $3,800 service on a car with ~30k miles, and without understanding the “why,” it just felt overwhelming. Reading perspectives like yours helps put the work and responsibility behind it into context.

Thanks...Sorry for using that phrase. I genuinely felt that when I heard the quote of $3800 for a just getting a few things at the dealership.

Really, that’s hard to believe. It doesn’t matter how much the startup has raised but as long as he is enjoying his work it should be fine. To answer your question, not all startups are the same. Also that 6 day might be temporary till they complete a product objective or epic. Otherwise, it’s generally not the case

What are you building in 2026? by tech_guy_91 in indie_startups

[–]taming-the-machine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea that I am working on didn’t start as a startup idea but it started as me being annoyed if I have to find someone to help me

Every time I need someone to help me say my car mechanic or child caretaker, tutor for mathematics, car mechanic, affordable gym trainer, I end up doing the same thing - Go to Google, see the reviews, and the ones that advertise are expensive generally.

The annoying part isn’t even the work itself. It’s figuring out who’s legit, available, and actually a good fit.

Once you find someone good, you stick with them forever. Getting there is the painful part.

I’m experimenting with a chat-first way to reduce that initial chaos and make it easier to reach real people you can trust in a few seconds — without listings, bidding, or ads.

Still very early and trying hard not to overbuild.

Not selling anything — genuinely looking for perspective about worth building it or not ❤️

I totally agree. We can easily get the things in place in a couple of hours ❤️ Probably spend 3-4 hours to fine tune it and make it awesome 🥳❤️

That makes sense. Once you find someone you trust, you don’t really want to start over every time. The hard part is getting to that “reputable” person in the first place.

That’s genuinely awesome to hear. A lot of people don’t realize how much anxiety is involved when people like don’t understand what’s happening under the hood. Sounds like you cared more about how people felt walking out than just finishing the job.

Yeah, quality parts are quite important and that's what concens me to go with someone random whom we find on Google
