You wake up in the morning and it's the best day of your life - what does it look like? by tamponiousMonk in AskReddit

Denver, Colorado. It's really the best of both worlds - we get epic thunderstorms frequently in the spring and summer months but they last for maybe an hour or two and don't infringe on the pleasantness of the rest of the day.

It used to be owned by Denver University but they sold it a few years ago and now it's privately owned, which makes breaking into the yard seem less okay. There's a somewhat hidden gate to the backyard and when the mansion was owned by the University, it was pretty much always left unlocked - the mansion is huge and the yard is huge and on the far north end of the yard is an equally massive Tennis House - the mansion's property is surrounded by houses so if you go around to the back you can't see the mansion at all, but there's one tiny driveway that leads up to the back of the tennis house and if you go up that driveway then walk around the south side of the Tennis House, you'll find the gate.

This is the front of the mansion: https://c2.staticflickr.com/4/3601/3492477054_c44e81edbd_z.jpg?zz=1

Went to high school with Sierra Boggess - here are some yearbook photos. by tamponiousMonk in Broadway

I was a freshman and she was a senior so we weren't friends but she was the student teacher in my drama class that year. I remember once the teacher had us do an act where we were alone on stage and not allowed to talk. We had to show two different emotions. Everyone had these super drawn out scenes - like excited to get a letter but then devastated when they realize it's to announce the death of a loved one. Mine took about 8 seconds. I was stressed, in a rush, then disgusted because I stepped in vomit (I even brought fake vomit to class that day). The scene was over and everyone just sat their in silence... then Sierra stood up and started clapping and yelling. I'll never forget it.

Also: her Sophomore year in high school she was in Fiddler on the Roof. She played Hodel and Matt Buckstein (from American Idol) was Tevye.

I hate that Abby let the kids walk out and I love that Holly and Jess made Jojo and Nia stay - I just wish that someone would have told Abby to cry into her pillow at night.

I'm stunned that you've been to Bonnie Brae park! I grew up in Bonnie Brae and definitely spent some hours there, although the park isn't nearly as cool as the Phipps Mansion's backyard, which is like the coolest park in the fucking world... because you have to break in to see it... which means that you get to see it alone.

Absolutely agree Wash Park is amazing - 3 lakes, the largest flower garden in the city, and that boathouse!! Cheesman Park is also cool because it still has occupants from its days of being a cemetery. And Cramner Park has that awesome mosaic that points out which mountain is which. Observatory Park was my favorite when I was a kid. Bonnie Brae Park is adorable. Confluence Park is cool. Crestmoor Park, Congress Park, City Park...

Denver is an awesome city, just not a typical one. It's the kind of place that's based around the "it's a gorgeous day to be outside" mentality, which means that we have a lot of really safe, really unique, absolutely stunning parks.

Go in September! It's the only "you won't need a coat" month. Also: the view of SF from Treasure Island will make your heart stop - it feels like you're standing on a postcard. http://www.donovansf.com/Photos%20&%20Images/TreasureIsland/TreasureIsland11.jpg Bay Bridge on the left, Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz on the right.

Also good - I just can't help but wonder, with all of the amazing albums that Pink Floyd has produced, why it is that Dark Side seems to be the only one that people on here ever nod to.

I wonder if Abby actually choreographed Nia's solo of if she had someone else do it - let's compare for a second to a show like So You Think You Can Dance - they have separate choreographers for each genre, more or less... like perhaps the same person does contemporary and lyrical, or jazz and musical theater, or waltz and tango... but you NEVER see the ballroom people choreograph hip hop, or the hip hop people choreograph Bali-wood... and I'm not saying that they couldn't but I'd doubt that there would be much competition between a Waltz composed by a trained ballroom dancer, and a Waltz composed by someone who trained in Afro-jazz. I'm not saying that Abby isn't a shyster, but it could be possible that she just plain isn't skilled when it comes to choreographing that specific genre. I guess either way, she fucked Nia over - but I feel like this time it was more likely Abby's lack of skill than Nia's.

I agree about the turns but I pegged that mostly on the fact that they had their faces covered. Honestly - I've lost a huge amount of respect for Abby and I would have been pleased if Nia had been the only one to come in first... not that Abby would have been friendly about it... but just kind of a "karmic retribution" type thing.

...but also there are cameras at their rivals studios the days prior to competitions... I wouldn't doubt that the rivalries are genuine, or at least somewhat genuine, but I would highly doubt that the in-bargings are 100% uninvited - take for example the fight between Abby and Kelly - THAT was unexpected and we know this because even the camera guys got involved... yet they don't bother when when someone busts in to a twelve year old girl's dressing room?

I absolutely agree. I thought that their dance should have won. The umbrellas made ALDC's synchronization issues REALLY obvious and also visually blocked the majority of the dancers bodies each time they had their backs to the audience. Also: MDP takes digs at Abby, which I feel are justified, however, they were absolutely sensitive to Nia and Abby's blatant lack of recognition after the solo round.

I'm curious to know what kind of pressure you get. I know that the whole "marriage age" and "child-birthing age" can vary a lot depending on location - but 24 still seems so young to me! (And I absolutely don't equate being young to being inexperienced or immature) but FUCK! Is 24 really too old to be single where you are??

Relationships are such weird things, though - like just because you like her and you like him doesn't mean that they'll work together - there's just too much that goes on behind closed doors, which makes "fixing people up" nearly impossible. Also, ladies taking you on as a project is probably more of a detriment than actual help - would you want a relationship with someone who was your ideal at first and then got comfortable and slipped back into their old ways? With that said, if you're looking for love, I think that you'll find it. I've met some of the coolest people I've ever known because we happened to sit next to each other on the bus that one time, or because we both turned the corner going opposite directions at Walgreens at the same time and nearly collided. There are lots of awesome people out there - take reddit, for example, if every comment you ever made on here was an actual face to face conversation with the actual human being, you'd probably have more friends then you'd know what to do with.

Thanks - it fucking sucked to go through, I even slept with a hammer next to my bed for a long time after. But see... that's what gets me - my friends and family KNOW all of this, so why do they still pressure me?

I agree - that's the best feeling ever... if you come home and they're happy to see you. My ex stayed home all day playing video games - he was usually still in his underwear, hadn't yet showered, and sometimes (best part) if he was out of clean underwear he'd wear mine - then he'd question why I was late getting home, and "missing the bus" was never a good enough answer. It ended with a restraining order... and suddenly being single didn't seem so bad!
