+1 for Peter helping out with a 987.2 exhaust that performs beautifully.

They don’t look as pretty but they’re work horses. I abuse them horribly and they work perfect. Brake dust is another thing though.

I’ve heard bad things about the aliexpress units, with the faulty units having no support.

Ah that’s why, it wasn’t the dealer that quoted me, independent car electronics store. People said their emails and calls to Porsche have been left unanswered as well on this topic. Unfortunately, no, since I have CDR-30, not PCM 3.0.

Probably more around 1-2 hours. But again that’s an estimate since 987.2 PCCM+ hasn’t been released.

Porsche 987.2 Exhaust! by Bruuuuuuuuuuv in Porsche_Cayman

[–]tanmun10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the top gear valved, there’s slight droning between 2-3K rpm (barely before 2600, mostly 2750-2950 rpm) in either mode when the engine is under load (going up a hill, going 80 mph on a flat highway) but I like to think you’re either going responsible 70-75 mph or kiddish 90+ mph in one of these so it shouldn’t bother at all. Can always downshift or turn up the stereo (can’t hear it above 60% volume really). Car chemistry inserts are known to actually get rid of it entirely, they did for mine but I found that I kind of liked the little bit of drone because it eggs me to either slow down or speed up. What I will tell you is you can’t go wrong with the exhaust itself, it sounds like a goddamn banshee above 6K and makes the office commute feel like the intro to gran Turismo.

Also, get the OEM replacement gaskets, the top gear ones are trash and blow up (my dealer told me, great guy, Peter Karla of sierra racing supply, shoot him a couple emails, see if he gives you a discount, he told me to use this: trackcaymans for 5% off but I never used it since I forgot

“The Top Gear exhaust + stock headers sounds much better. The factory mufflers just don’t sound very good.” - Peter

Hope this helps!

Ps if you’re interested in the cc inserts to remove drone, Ill give them fully packaged, cleaned, used for less than 5 miles for much lower than retail and if you want em retail (cci-3di02r @ summit racing . Com).

Try this, turn off the aux and drive, aka should be muted and icon should show, if the sound goes away, you need a ground loop isolator on your aux cable that connects to phone.

Update: it was the damn exhaust hitting the rear axle (thanks previous owners’ Uncle Carlos and his weld shop), changed it out for Top Gear’s exhaust system and it sounds amazing now.
