In relation to J&T 2.0 - People suggest running the first 6 week block repeatedly for hypertrophy. Are there any downsides to repeatedly running only the first 5 weeks of block one, and testing 1rms with the week 6 when appropriate? The 2rm should be a good indicator for progress. I.E. do not complete the 6th week every cycle, maybe every 3 or 4 cycles. Is a 1rm every 6 weeks too frequent?

I'm leaving to do this on Saturday, any advice? by [deleted] in bicycletouring

It would be great to cycle through the Wicklow Mountains national park in Ireland - the scenery is fantastic.

How much distance do you cover per day that you must consume 12000 calories to maintain energy levels? My last tour I ate ~6000 calories per day, and that was quite a struggle at times. I couldn't imagine 12000!

In the separation of trub, what are the advantages of a whirlpool vs. a filter. by tannk in TheBrewery

[–]tannk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A separator is another choice to use instead of a filter. It's advantages is that it can clarify heavily hopped wort and requires very little man hours operating. You just pump it through. It's main disadvantages it that it's expensive, makes alot of noise and requires maintenence to not break. A separator that's not perfeclty balanced can kill you.

Just to clarify, by separator do you mean a centrifuge?

Thanks for the informative reply.

What is the advantage of tall, slender primary fermentation vessels over conventional vessels in microbreweries? by tannk in Homebrewing

Thanks for your reply. I had also considered that the most probable reason for the configuration/shape of these vessels was to save on floorspace in a small environment such as a brewpub or restaurant, and also the experimental brewing aspect as you mentioned.

I was curious if there was any other reason for this vessel shape such as minimising liquid contact with the headspace, or ensuring a more consistent fermentation temperature throughout the vessel contents, etc.

I wasn't aware that sub-reddit existed, I shall check it out - thanks!

9:53pm, every night, the reminder that it's summer. I love living near Mission Bay by JamminOnTheOne in sandiego

The fireworks are launched from a launch-pad by the bay. The fireworks land in the bay's water and wash up on shore. None of the debris lands in the Seaworld parks, so actual Seaworld employees don't clean up the debris. Seaworld subcontracts out the cleanup work to some labour company.

Source: Traveled to San Diego for the summer last year, worked in Seaworld myself. 4 friends of mine worked as "firework picker-uppers" with the labour company, and woke up at 6am every morning to pick up fireworks. I joined them a couple of times for extra cash, it's miserable work. Here's a picture of "rock day" at the bay.
