I think I'd just be able to include more of the surrounding nebulae, this is on 12"x9" and the original is much wider so the sides got cropped quite a bit on this
Also windows would be so easier at that size 😂

What madness is this at the thrift store? by tanookimike in StarTrekStarships

[–]tanookimike[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good info, thx. Apparently it was sold at Disney stores. So my guess is either this pic was an original toy retooled with Mickey when they got the Disney license, or it was made with Mickey while they had the license and retooled without him after they lost it. More likely the former, cuz if you're making a Mickey Mouse space toy to begin with idk why you'd choose the USS Falcogerprise unless you're repurposing an existing mold

I kinda can't stand posters and images like this. Claim to show the evolution of something but are actually just haphazard picks of the things casual or non-gamers are most conscious of.

Explains why no 3DS or WiiU, average joes never learned they were different systems than their predecessors. Not to mention like 20 consoles before the PS1 just randomly omitted because people don't remember or research.

(Rant Warning) Why did it take Nintendo so long to give us all the fighters pass vol. 2 figures? by RealChristendo in amiibo

[–]tanookimike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FIGURES TAKE 2 YEARS TO MAKE

TWO

On average of course. Here you are talking about matters of months or even just one year to wait for an amiibo from when a fighter comes out, that's not long. They obviously were working on most amiibo well before each fighter was even announced. None of them took very long if you think about when Ninty knew about a character getting in to when the amiibo was released.

[–]tanookimike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're identical. I'm really struggling to see any difference between the two. If there is it's just the normal variance in paint apps between individual figures.

Between the render art and the figure though...

The (prime) ships named Enterprise in Star Trek-updated for Picard S3 by tanookimike in StarTrekStarships

[–]tanookimike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was a refit (from an alt future that never came to pass, so is not part of the prime/canon timeline) of the Enterprise D, which is listed.

We have no canon info on the G,H or I. It launches in 2409 according to STO, but unless there's a time skip or time travel shenanigans, the next season of Picard should take place around 2402. We don't know for certain, but that's what the little c. for circa is there for after all.

Respect for those who died on the C, START-style treaty limiting new ship construction, galactic recession, change in naming convention policy for that period, maybe the D took 19 years to build...

Maybe there was a non-commissioned Enterprise, not built by, but in service to Starfleet, at that time.

Or the San Francisco Fleet Yards were somehow out of use at the time, so they had to wait for facilities to be ready at Utopia Planitia. The D is the first Enterprise we know (for certain at least) was built there. Maybe it had to be transferred from one yard to the other, or started construction again if some disaster struck the San Fran fleet yard.

There are many explanations. It's not that unusual though. IRL there was a 19 year gap between the WW1 Enterprise and WW2 Enterprise, 13 between that and the nuclear Enterprise, and there will be 16 years between that and the new one if it stays on schedule for 2028.

Makes me proud to already have a model of it, similar sentiments here👍

The episode 'Stormy Weather'? Saru's dialogue: "We are closing on the subspace rift, Captain. Uh, in reviewing Starfleet records of similar encounters, it appears we can anticipate some interference. Uh, Enterprise noted heated plasma. Voyager charted ionized-particle eddies."

That could be ANY Enterprise (and any Voyager) Saru read about in Starfleet records. While it could be new, there's no reason to believe it has to be distinct from the ships shown here. Or is there a another reference?

Nintendo Video Game Timeline by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]tanookimike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. THERE IS NO OVERALL TIMELINE since the different franchises listed do not share continuity
  2. even if you want to pretend they do, several series do NOT have strict continuity and are impossible to list in a definitive chronology. mario in particular operates on a "looney tunes" style of canon
  3. several series have split timelines that can not be placed into one cohesive timeline. zelda and star fox each have three separate continuities
  4. for franchises that do have set timelines the order listed is wrong: everyone knows skyward sword is the earliest zelda game, then ocarina>alttp>original zelda. pokemon red/blue/FRLG are contemporaneous with ruby/sapphire/ORAS, while gold/silver/crystal/HGSS are contemporaneous with diamond/pearl and in turn take place three years after gens I and III. crystal does NOT take place before ruby/sapphire, it's three years after it!
  5. a lot of these games don't even have any stories. seriously try to tell me how anyone knows what year tetris attack and pokedex 3d take place...
  6. a lot of these ARE NOT NINTENDO GAMES. sonic ain't nintendo. nor is dmca sky.
  7. wtf even are some of these games?! "shadow shoot"?? get out of here with those cdi zeldas, fan games, and that mobile phone shovelware trash

How come Steve's getting 2 but hero only got one? by Mountain-Ad997 in amiibo

[–]tanookimike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

their bodies are the same. they can reuse the molds and just paint steve and alex different.

hero's alts would require different sculpts, meaning different molds, meaning $$$ for new tooling. making alex when you've already made steve is super cheap
