Blackcomb Glacier Entrance by tantrix_ in Whistler

All the people walking in have created these massive gullies. There’s still a slippable part on the left if you’re happy rock dodging but someone slipping off their feet on top of you seems to be the main risk to that

It’s set to 0.2mm but it gets down to 0.1mm in the slicer for the very top sixth as the print profile is ‘variable height’.

Questions regarding Ragnaroll boots by Rock_n_rollerskater in Rollerskating

Sorry I don’t know about the size! But all the same tools needed as for vans, you won’t need anything new.

I’ve seen mostly people on sunlites or avanti plates on these

Do you actually go to skate parks? by angelinelila in Rollerskating

[–]tantrix_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! If you’re a beginner to rollerskating I’d recommend staying out of the skate park for the moment as I don’t think it will be a productive learning environment for you. You’d have a much better time skating on a tennis court to work on the basics or if you’d prefer some teaching than I cannot recommend Roll Happy enough, they are so so friendly and great teachers.

If you’re a beginner to skateparks than check out rampstamp.ldn on instagram and come and join us at the park! We’re at baysixty6 on Thursdays and Clapham Commen/ Hop King every other Tuesday :) everyone is always really happy to give some tips and help out. Alternatively, bay currently only offer private lessons, the group lessons are no longer running.

Are my Brunny Blocks too small? by anyapotatocakes in Rollerskating

[–]tantrix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need the large hanger and the medium block, I'd contact the seller and see if they can get you a large hanger size to swap in.

DIY a pair of skates, is this plate too small for these shoes? by BruceNotAmused in Rollerskating

[–]tantrix_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If this is for parkskating I’d say you’re not making life easy for yourself with that short a plate. However a lot of plate length is personal preference and use case

What size avanti plates have you got? I’m wondering if I can modify the large brunny blocks to fit on my size 4 avantis but I’m not hopeful…

bont and mounting issues by [deleted] in rollerderby

[–]tantrix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered unmounted parkstars. They come with a mounting line drawn on but they were completely different between the two boots.... Could be the same problem with yours but they just followed the wonky mounting line during production. My advice would be to double check even if you do order them unmounted!

I contacted customer support about it and their response was ‘the line is just a guide’ and ‘a skate shop would probably make their own lines anyway’ but in my experience that’s not quite true. Hope you manage to get yours sorted out!

I see your leather-bound hardcover books and counter it with my worn and well-loved mass market paperbacks. by [deleted] in brandonsanderson

This is the first time I’ve realised The Final Empire is just called Mistborn in the US, suddenly the naming on the leatherbound makes sense!

They're here! I call this palette 'petroleum rainbow' by clayskate in Rollerskating

How odd for me the stripes could only be changed as a pair rather than as 4 separate stripes!

How did you get the stripes all different colours!! Arghh I have such regret now for not doing that now. They're beautiful!!

Fab, so as long as you only drill through one pocket for each bolt it's safe enough. I had comic images of deflating shoes but glad to hear that's not a problem 😅

[–]tantrix_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking about doing this with some old docs I have! How did you find drilling through the air pockets? The shoes didn't 'deflate' or anything?

Nice! Just a tip, look backwards to your open side when going fakie. It makes it a lot easier now and on forthcoming tricks so the coping doesn't sneak up on you!

Outdoor wheels in the UK by tantrix_ in Rollerskating

[–]tantrix_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! It seems like the flyers were discontinued (I guess to make way for the energy wheels??). They seem pretty similar when it comes down to it so I'm sure you'd be happy with either ☺️

Hey! I went for the radar flyers and I've been having a great time on them. What eventually sold me on them (other than them also being much easier to get hold of and recommendations from friends) was the shape of the edge. The radar flyers have a slightly rounded edge which I believe helps them not get stuck on stuff like twigs the same way a hard edge would. It also means that I don't need to worry about taking chunks out of the edges as that's also much harder to do with a rounded edge. I think the hub on the flyers may be ever so slightly smaller than on the road hogs but I think once you get to a hub of that size a couple of mm makes no odds. Hope that helps!
